📢 And the "Startup of the Week" is... STONE161 ▶️STONE161 is a spin-off focused on creating resilient and stable landscapes against erosion. We’ve developed a patent and proprietary software to detect contamination caused by excess sediment in rivers. They use the GeoFluv methodology and Natural Regrade software, which only 10 teams globally operate, and which the EU has recognized as the best available restoration technique. Eduardo Sánchez, CEO of STONE161, is focused to bridge this scientific development with market needs, identifying opportunities and creating customized solutions for both companies and public administrations. 🎙️Which have been your key milestones recently? Our incorporation will be formalized in the next two months. Despite this, we continue to work from the University on various national and international transfer projects in the mining sector. Our recent milestones have been being finalists in the NTT DATA Foundation eAwards 2204 and receiving the 2nd prize for Best Startup of the Year at La Nave, organized by the Ayuntamiento de Madrid. 🎙️How can our program Clean Cities help STONE161? In our scalability strategy, we want to apply landscape design and construction methodologies to urban areas. We believe that cities aiming to implement sustainability and rewilding criteria in their neighborhoods must consider an intelligent design for their parks and gardens—one that resists erosion, evolves naturally, and helps secure vegetation. This program allows us to adopt that shift in perspective, more closely aligned with landscaping and a network of cities adapted to climate change. ⬇To know more about them, check their website below! https://www.stone161.com/ Next week we'll tell you more about another of our startups! #Startups #UPM #growth #sustainability #investment #cleantech #cleancities #smartcities #StartupoftheWeek ClimAccelerator Climate-KIC EIT Climate-KIC Spain Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

Last few generations of our #innovations, mainly those that help us generate and consume massive amount of energy, brought us into the #climatecrisis, and the next generation of innovations, rightly called #climatetech, will get us out of it. Ranging from energy, materials, efficiency, data, and more... climate tech is also developing into a major economic engine. It is also crucial for India to take bold steps in scaling this industry and becoming a world leader in it. Through this partnership Lodha x Third Derivative, we are opening up opprtunities for innovators and industry to pilot and scale solutions in built environment not only in India (where unprecedented levels of urbanization is happening) but across the world. Huge congratulations to 20-year-old former Venture Kick winner Yohan Hadji on his successful exit with R2Home! Yohan's glidersonde, originally developed at EPFL and now rebranded as Meteoglider, has officially joined the Meteomatics family, advancing sustainable solutions in atmospheric sensing. About: Each year, 600,000 radiosondes are launched globally to gather atmospheric data for weather forecasts, but most are lost when balloons burst, causing significant environmental and economic costs (USD 100M annually). R2HOME offers a groundbreaking solution: a gliding robot that ensures radiosondes return safely to a precise landing point. This preserves the equipment for reuse, enabling more launches and better data collection for improved weather forecasts in a world where accurate predictions are increasingly vital. #VentureKick #SwissStartups #Exit #StartupExit

So exciting to be included in Wired's Hottest Startups in Amsterdam! "Vegetation is the single greatest factor behind power outages caused by the electrical grid due to trees falling on power lines or by sparking wildfires—and the problem is only worsening due to changing climate and more frequent storms. “Using images from satellites and airplanes, we use computer vision to find trees and estimate their height, health and species,” says Indra den Bakker, who cofounded Overstory with Anniek Schouten in 2018. This allows electric utility companies to direct their tree-pruning efforts to areas where the likelihood that trees will come in contact with power lines is higher. Raising $25 million to date, with support from Pale Blue Dot, B Capital, CapitalT, Moxxie Ventures, Overstory’s clients already include four of the top 10 American utilities. One investor-owned utility, for instance, has saved more than $3 million in vegetation costs." https://lnkd.in/gD-hmpUQ
