Scenes of people living on the streets or in shelters create stereotypes around homelessness as an unsolvable problem. As daunting as those scenes are, the majority of people without housing or the threat of losing it are competent to take care of themselves and simply need a financial boost to move forward. In the UK, Greater Change partners with existing charities that refer clients for cash grants. Greater Change instigates a fundraising campaign and transfers money directly to the client’s support team. It’s a model worthy of emulation that has helped more than 900 UK residents get back on their feet since 2018. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gU4B-Fge

At Control Alt Delete, we are proud to be 100% community-supported. We do not receive state or federal funding because we believe in the power of independence and flexibility; this message from an advocate shows the why. This allows us to respond quickly and directly to the immediate needs of Survivors without being restricted by government regulations or red tape. Every dollar donated goes directly toward helping someone escape domestic violence, ensuring we can provide the personalized, life-saving assistance that larger agencies often cannot. Our supporters are the lifeline for Survivors, and together, we save lives every single day. 💜 #CommunityDriven #SurvivorSupport #EndDV #IndependenceMatters #DVControlAltDelete #domesticviolence #escapeabuse #GetThemSafe #NoExcuse4Abuse #nonprofit #BridgetheGap #SocietyofSurvivors #ResetAfterAbuse #savinglives

Please sign this and share if you can - it has just two days to go. 1 in 52 people aged 16-24 were experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness last year. We need a national strategy that will provide the direction and support needed to address: (1) the many forms that homelessness can take - from rough sleeping to sofa surfing to unsafe homes; (2) as well as the specific needs and challenges faced by young people - from the increased likelihood of family breakdown as a cause of homelessness to the decreased likelihood of receiving support from local authorities. We need a national strategy to end youth homelessness.
🚨 WE NEED YOUR SIGNATURES BY 21 MARCH ✏️ Last year 136,000 young people approached their council for housing support, yet there is still no strategy to #EndYouthHomelessness. That’s why, along with 120 other charities, we are in support of a Government petition to ensure the issue is debated in Parliament. If you’ve ever been inspired by our work or thought you could do more to help end youth homelessness then this is your moment. ✏️ SIGN the petition >>> https://lnkd.in/exFKGpjc ⏩ SHARE this post on your socials 📱 SEND this to friends, family and colleagues via WhatsApp and ask them to sign too. #PlanForThe136k #TogetherWeCan

Supporting local businesses is at the heart of everything we do. Before we found our office, one of the places we worked out of was @luvcoffeepinemarket, a local gem that donates 50% of its proceeds to orphans. We met clients there, connected with other small businesses, and truly became a part of the Montgomery County community. When you find a place you love, you want to share it, and Luv Coffee is one of those must-visit spots. If you're in the area, grab a coffee and support a great cause! ☕💼 Need expert commercial real estate advice? Call us, and let’s grow together! Your property. Our priority. PEXA is a proud partner of Homes for Homes, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to ending homelessness across Australia. After years of experiencing housing insecurity, Barb was able to find long-term stable housing thanks to a grant from Homes for Homes. Now, she has a world of opportunity at her feet – she’s feeling energised by new friendships formed with housemates, can focus on her career goals and pursue higher education without the worry of impermanent accommodation. Over the next 3 years, PEXA has promised to invest at least $245,000 in Homes for Homes as part of our ongoing partnership since 2016, so more people like Barb can experience long-term housing security. Keen to contribute to the cause? The PEXA platform makes it seamless for sellers to donate 0.1% of their property's sale proceeds to fund the creation of social and affordable housing. For example, on a sale of $750,000, that’s a fully tax-deductible $750 donation. We encourage our community of conveyancers and practitioners to speak to their clients today about registering their property for a Homes for Homes donation, to help more people like Barb. Head to homesforhomes.org.au to find out more. Expanding Housing First initiatives can significantly support charities like Newbury Soup Kitchen in housing our clients. Housing First offers a pathway to more sustainable outcomes for our clients. Rather than solely providing temporary relief, Newbury Soup Kitchen can collaborate with Housing First programs to facilitate the transition of our clients into permanent housing. This allows us to focus its resources on other essential services, such as providing meals and outreach. Sadly, this service is required now more than ever with the increasing rise in homelessness across England. Through collaboration and a shared commitment to housing as a fundamental human right, Housing First can support our clients find a long-term solution to homelessness. #notjustsoup

This week our CEO David Powles wrote to previous supporters of NCLS to ask them to consider supporting our match-funding scheme with Aviva. For every £ donated, they add another £ to the pot. 🥂 In just 24 hours a staggering £2,000 was raised on the back of that email. 💸 To put that into context, the specialist advice we offer costs on average £24 an hour to provide. 🤝 This means, from that shout out alone, we will be able to provide 83 hours of advice to the people of Norfolk. That advice could be given to a domestic abuse victim unable to get support through the court process. It might help us to represent the thousands of people a year who are being wrongly denied benefits they are entitled to. It might help someone wrongfully dismissed by their employer, but unable to fight back without our support. Whomever it is used for - it will give them a voice and it will make a real difference. Please consider donating to help us to help more people.

We’re thrilled to share that Planning Congress is proudly supporting Homes for Homes as our Official 2024 Congress Charity. In lieu of speaker gifts, we will be making a donation to Homes for Homes, on behalf of our keynote speakers. A little bit about Homes for Homes 👇 Every night 122,000 people in Australia sleep homeless. While another 1.5 million live in serious housing stress. We have a housing crisis. We can’t let this go on. And at Homes for Homes, we won’t. Homes for Homes is a simple promise that when a home sells, whenever that is, 0.1% of the sale price will be donated—helping build homes for those in need. The issue is too big for any one person, business or government to solve alone. But together, we have a simple community empowered solution to a seemingly insurmountable problem. It’s a promise we all need to make, a promise to help end homelessness. And with Homes for Homes, we can. Launched our new Challenge 52 Campaign earlier in the year together with a new look website. www.ccp.org.uk Take a look and see if this is a charity that will, in part, support your Environment, Social & Governance Goals in particular investing in local community projects, such as Caring for Communities and People. Delighted also to announce that together with the business community we smashed our campaign target of £100,000, with whopping current total of £105,457.99 (including Gift Aid). When we set the target we knew how ambitious it was, and how difficult it would be to achieve. Buoyed by knowing the difference raising these funds would make, and through unique fundraising initiatives we reached our goal. The fund will deliver 2 temporary shelter *pods* to provide respite from sleeping in doorways, under bridges or beinghind superstores, allowing individuals to rehabilitate their lives while maintaining a sense of dignity and autonomy. What’s more, the funds will also cover the cost of a support worker to visit regularly, helping restore the faith in those who have been isolated from society, and with patience securing more permanent accommodation. And our *Crisis Fund* which offers grants to individuals and families with rent debt, which if not resolved often leads to eviction, then homelessness and periods of time in temporary accommodation. Research by Shelter found that children who have been in temporary accommodation for more than a year are over three times more likely to demonstrate anxiety and depression than those who have not. Shelter summarise the common problems experienced by children living in temporary accommodation: ■ Lack of privacy and space ■ Lack of security and safe places to play ■ Impact on friendships and family relations ■ Difficulty in cooking and eating together as a family ■ Impact on well-being and mental health ■ Difficulties getting to and from school ■ Poor sleep ■ Early taking on of adult roles and responsibilities. The crisis fund prevents homelessness :) Take a look at Challenge52 and see what difference you can make by partnering with #CCPCharity https://lnkd.in/eQZaH6cs
