Greater Change helps people move out of homelessness for good through cost effective and dignified personalised budgets.

About us

Greater Change began in 2018, inspired by the success of cash transfers in low to middle income countries and the stories we were hearing from clients at Aspire Oxfordshire, who were consistently prevented from moving out of homelessness at the final hurdle. Our model is collaborative, leveraging the specialist knowledge of local homelessness support services, which ensures clients are not passed from pillar to post between services. Partner charities refer to us clients for whom a relatively small financial boost will have a transformative impact. These clients tell us exactly what they need to take this step out of homelessness, we listen and fund it. To learn more about how you can support Greater Change, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

We are delighted to be highly commended in the Demonstrating Impact Excellence Award by Homeless Link, for our work at Greater Change! This award highlights the clear evidence of the effectiveness of personalised cash grants in supporting our clients out of homelessness for good and saving local authorities millions of £ in temporary accommodation costs. Our evidence-based approach has successfully helped over 900 individuals overcome homelessness, with 86% of those we supported last year moving into stable, sustained housing. In the coming years, we will continue to demonstrate the significant impact of our work, and we strive to shape local practice and national policy to implement personalised cash grants throughout the UK. A heartfelt thank you to Homeless Link for this commendation!

  • Today, we were thrilled to take part in Newton Europe’s 2024 Charity Day! Nearly 50 Newton employees worked together to hand out care packages with essential items to those sleeping rough in London. In the afternoon, we hosted a workshop to share stories of some of those we've supported in the past and learn about the stereotypes and reality of homelessness in the UK. Thank you so much to all the wonderful employees who joined us and a special thanks to Ric Whalley and Peter Banfield who helped us plan and run the day! #socialimpact #homelessness

  • Thanks so much to James Tapper for reporting on our work this morning. Over the past five years, we have supported over 1300 people with personalised cash grants and have strong evidence of their effectiveness in moving people out of homelessness for good. Last year, 86% of those we supported maintained their move out of homelessness and every £1 spent saved the public purse over £20. Personalised cash grants give people the dignity of choice and a real opportunity to move on with their lives. We're excited to now be running a randomised control trial to test their effectiveness at scale. If you'd like to support Greater Change's work this winter, our matched donation scheme allows you to change one life every year by setting up a £36 monthly donation. 100% of your donations go directly to the campaigns of the clients we support. https://lnkd.in/eQy-adFq
