  • Are you part of a law firm that is potentially interested in making a massive difference to someone’s legal career, providing vital support to vulnerable people in Norfolk and helping to identify potential stars of the future? For the last couple of years NCLS has run a successful Summer Intern scheme in which two law students spend up to 12 weeks working for us on a paid internship. During the Summer we lose our usual student volunteers and the Intern roles are vital for filling that gap and ensuring we can keep on taking on new clients. Prior to launching this scheme, the demand has been such that we have had to close services to new clients – that’s how important these roles are. For the Interns themselves this is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a law firm, speaking to clients and dealing with real-life cases. By the end of the internship they leave much more prepared for a future in the legal world and having gained skills that many law firms tell us are too often lacking in potential employees. We wish to continue with those vital roles but need the funding to do so. We are looking for firms who would consider sponsoring all or part of one of the Summer Intern placement roles. If you are willing to consider this, we can offer an attractive proposition, to include: ·       Interns spend 10/12 weeks with NCLS from end of June/early July to September 2025. They carry out a variety of important roles and this includes direct contact with clients. ·       At the end of Internship, they are offered either an interview or a few days placement with your firm, as you would prefer. ·       We will promote your firm’s sponsorship and it’s impact to the community heavily across social media and with releases in the local media before and during the placement. ·       We advertise it to students as an opportunity to get experience and paid employment. ·       We particularly welcome people from disadvantaged or diverse backgrounds who may not be able to volunteer for free. We see this as an opportunity to offer a chance to someone with talent that may otherwise go to waste or unnoticed. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in discussng further then contact our CEO David Powles at davidpowles@ncls.co.uk

  • We were really pleased to welcome Sarah Taylor, Norfolk's Police and Crime Commissioner, to our offices today to talk about the importance of our work and some of the challenges we, and our clients, face in accessing justice. The OPCC for Norfolk part funds our vital work to support domestic abuse victims seeking to gain an injunction from the perpetrator of the abuse against them. She is pictured alongside (from L to R) Rebecca Calthorpe, NCLS family solicitor, Philippa Bartlett, UEA law student volunteer, David Powles, NCLS Chief Executive and Tamsin Roques, NCLS family service manager.
