Legendary musician John McEuen, a founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the life-saving cardiac care he received at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West. After undergoing triple-bypass surgery, John shared, "It’s not just hospital care—it's mission-driven. Everybody in the hospital shares in that mission." John, who accepted a JMA Lifetime Achievement Award in October, reflected on the significance of his recovery: "What’s bigger than that award is that I’m alive to receive it. Thanks for giving me my life back—and making it continue for years to come." Read John’s full story here: https://lnkd.in/eKdntcF5

Patient safety is paramount in healthcare, and its importance cannot be overstated when it comes to preventing sentinel incidents like retained foreign objects, wrong patient, and wrong site surgeries. By implementing and adhering to robust safety protocols, fostering a culture of accountability, ensuring clear communication among surgical teams, and prioritizing verification processes, we can significantly reduce the occurrence of these life-altering errors. Every step, from pre-operative verification to post-operative checks, should be meticulously followed to safeguard our patients. When every member of the healthcare team is committed and continue to prioritize patient safety, we create a safer environment that minimizes risks and improves outcomes. Let’s make patient safety our top priority to protect those who entrust us with their health and prevent these preventable errors. #PatientSafety #HealthcareQuality #SentinelEvents
