About us
Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) is a 1,541 bed, not for profit academic medical center, and the primary teaching site for Yale School of Medicine and Yale School of Nursing. Recognized by U.S. News and World Report as a top hospital, YNHH’s faculty and community physicians practice in more than 100 specialties. The hospital has a level one trauma center, comprehensive transplant center, and both a certified heart and stroke center. The medical center also includes Smilow Cancer Hospital and its affiliated Yale Cancer Center, one of only 41 NCI designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S., and the largest between New York and Boston. We care for our smallest patients at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, and the hospital’s psychiatric services are ranked in the top ten nationally. YNHH is also a Magnet Hospital, a designation of excellence in nursing practice. We are an employer of choice, consistently recognized by Working Mother Magazine, the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) and Family Digest. YNHH has also been recognized for advances in technology as one of the most wired health care facilities. YNHH provides a dynamic, exciting work environment, including competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package, including a day care center and a fitness center as well as an on site career counselor and tuition reimbursement for continuing education, and reward and recognition programs for staff that consistently excel.

Brookfield Police Department Sergeant Joe Kyek and Youth Officer Mitch Heller joined Yale New Haven Health staff and volunteers to deliver a semi-truck-load of toys for pediatric patients across the health system. Thousands of toys were received, sorted and stored. Every pediatric patient is given an age-appropriate toy or small gift when they are discharged. Toys are given out 365 days a year. This year the Toy Closet Program supplied more than 150,000 toys to locations across the health system. But the pain that started in 2016 was not normal – and by 2022, Mary was in agony. That’s when she turned to a program at Yale New Haven Hospital that aims to treat non-arthritic hip pain and prevent future hip replacements. Much of the human body is made up of water and people are at a higher risk of becoming dehydrated when sick. While IV fluids can make people feel better, it is generally not needed. The GI tract is excellent at absorbing fluids as long as you can keep them down. Learn more about how to stay hydrated when sick: http://ynh.care/qk.
