Wow, I just booted uLinux on custom silicon! On Tiny Tapeout 6 we have KianV uLinux by Hirosh. https://lnkd.in/dbyjgqCV Which is an example of the biggest designs we can fit on Tiny Tapeout (16 tiles). The memory is external, on a community developed PMOD. I followed Uri Shaked's easy instructions to flash the PMOD and then boot Linux! Amazing! Thanks to Mike Bell and Leo Moser for the PMOD we're using for designs that need external memory. #ASIC #opensource #RISCV

🎉 Exciting news to close out 2024! TinyTapeout TT06 with our scalable and minimal-area FazyRV RISC-V core has arrived — and it works! 🙌 This journey has been incredible: 💡 Started as an idea in 2023. 📄 Became a publication at the 21st ACM International Conference on Computing Frontiers (https://lnkd.in/dkX4R-yE). 🌐 Has been released as open-source (https://lnkd.in/dWAUy2tS). 🤝 I had the pleasure of giving a talk about FazyRV at ORConf'24 and meeting amazing people (https://lnkd.in/dvHvngPz). 🎉 And now, it's successfully working in silicon! I just verified my twin tee oscillator in silicon! This design was fabbed on Tiny Tapeout 7, which we just received from Efabless Corporation https://lnkd.in/dMwxmHsT This design uses a 'twin tee' filter in the feedback loop of an opamp. It was simulated to oscillate at 4.93MHz but I measured 4.67MHz - about 5% slower. Pretty close! Thanks to Alan Wolke (W2AEW) for the inspiration, Sai for the opamp design and Pat Deegan, KSC for the opamp layout. It was cool being able to reuse the open source silicon IP that other people have made! The time has come to finally tapeout something with DFHDL (https://lnkd.in/dg3FdBBz). #tinytapeout is a great way to do so. The repo is currently a placeholder and will be updated closer to the submission deadline. Currently a single small tile. Maybe in the future we'll reserve more depending on where the showcase takes us.
