CHIP DESIGN FOR EVERYONE
About us
Efabless enables non-hardware experts to create the electronics required for intelligent, connected products. Efabless offers a unique process where users can rapidly, cost-effectively and easily create electronics from community-developed building blocks and open design patterns, called templates. We provide everything needed to do this: - Marketplace & request process - Library of building blocks and open designs - Design tools - Manufacturing technology and services We employ multiple models for revenue generation, including transaction fees for technology licenses and services provided, royalty fees for full volume production and subscription models for eco-system partners. Our initial offering enables the design of customized integrated circuits (ICs) based on pre-engineered templates and pre-defined libraries of functional building blocks (IP). Our customers are system companies seeking custom silicon to improve their products and IC start-up companies delivering proof of concepts to showcase their unique designs. Partners include organizations looking to address these markets or to encourage new open innovation models for ICs.

Wow, I just booted uLinux on custom silicon! On Tiny Tapeout 6 we have KianV uLinux by Hirosh. https://lnkd.in/dbyjgqCV Which is an example of the biggest designs we can fit on Tiny Tapeout (16 tiles). The memory is external, on a community developed PMOD. I followed Uri Shaked's easy instructions to flash the PMOD and then boot Linux! Amazing! Thanks to Mike Bell and Leo Moser for the PMOD we're using for designs that need external memory. #ASIC #opensource #RISCV

Holiday season is coming up soon. If you want to spend some time getting into analog circuit design, maybe the following is of interest to you: Based on open-source tools (Xschem, ngspice) and open-source PDK (IHP 130nm CMOS) we have developed an open-source hands-on analog circuit design course. We are currently using this material at Johannes Kepler Universität Linz and improving it as we go along. Everything is freely available, all is open, and feedback and contributions are encouraged. We use Jupyter notebooks to size circuits using the gm/Id method, and use circuit simulation extensively. The documentation (all source code open) is available as a webpage and as a PDF and is based on Quarto. Enjoy! https://lnkd.in/daCDCNqi

Check out the contest 👇🏽 to make your own IC using open-source tools.
All Bay Area Students: There is a contest to make your own IC using open-source tools. The cost is free. The contest is to build a sound and graphics demo in less than 161 x 225 microns of 130nm ASIC ( https://lnkd.in/dpp74szQ ) I have some tutorials (Te tiny Tape out site has great materials as well.): https://lnkd.in/dAhMRZhB https://lnkd.in/dAhMRZhB If you are a local student who is interested, please fill out this form so I can help you create groups during the break. For equipment, all you need is a computer. https://lnkd.in/dqcpNA-s This can be the start of a Senior Project. Please note that this is a worldwide contest run by Tiny Tapeout; anyone can enter. I am just trying to form local groups.
