About us

The Self-Investigation is a foundation that provides a variety of services aimed at improving media professionals’ well-being. It is led by multi-lingual, certified coaches and trainers with five decades of media experience combined. We use evidence-based practices so media professionals can relate to stress and digital overload in a healthier way. We have already trained more than 10.000 journalists on four continents in response to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • IT'S A WRAP!!! At The Self-Investigation, we have so much to celebrate and be grateful for to 2024. Here are the key milestones we’d love to revive with you: 💛 Connecting a global community: The Mental Health in Journalism Summit More than 2,500 journalists from 130 countries joined us to participate on Oct8-10th in a necessary dialogue that put emotional wellbeing at the heart of the industry. 💪🏼 We empowered hundreds of journalists through training and coaching. From African journalists and female leaders from Latin America, investigative journalists, Managers from 14 fact-checking organisations and several newsrooms with customized trainings. 🔍 We produced long-lasting resources such as the Mental Health in Journalism Toolkit for Fact-Checkers - Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/dC2cYdyk 🗣️ We are breaking the stigma by bringing the conversation to global stages.We continued to open conversations and create safe spaces to address mental health topics boldly and without fear at a dozen major conferences. ✅ We foster culture change with the Mental Health in Journalism Pledge. Providing a listening ear is more powerful than you think. (...) 👉🏼 One common mistake: We tend to believe we should offer a fix, a solution. The truth is that what most people want is to feel seen and heard by an empathetic listener. 🧏🏼♂️ What the journalism community currently needs for collective resilience are permanent — and not random — structures of peer support.
