Advancing Responsible AI
About us
Partnership on AI (PAI) is a non-profit partnership of academic, civil society, industry, and media organizations creating solutions so that AI advances positive outcomes for people and society. By convening diverse, international stakeholders, we seek to pool collective wisdom to make change. We are not a trade group or advocacy organization. We develop tools, recommendations, and other resources by inviting voices from across the AI community and beyond to share insights that can be synthesized into actionable guidance. We then work to drive adoption in practice, inform public policy, and advance public understanding. Through dialogue, research, and education, PAI is addressing the most important and difficult questions concerning the future of AI. Our mission is to bring diverse voices together across global sectors, disciplines, and demographics so developments in AI advance positive outcomes for people and society.

Partnership on AI continues to grow our community across the country to connect with leaders in the AI research and innovation ecosystem. Thank you Dug Song and Will Foss for the invitation to visit Ann Arbor and Detroit for a day of learning and thought-provoking conversations. Last Wednesday, Felecia Webb, Stephanie Bell and I started the day at the University of Michigan meeting with MIDAS (Michigan Institute for Data and AI in Society), University of Michigan - Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy Policy, Robotics and AI labs, and interdisciplinary leaders across the university. Highlights included scholarship on AI and its impacts on society, science, engineering and public policy. We learned about the breadth of research underway including on human-AI interactions, AI applied to healthcare, and robotics for embodied AI. We concluded the day at Michigan Central, an impressive technology, innovation and culture hub in Detroit spurring an ecosystem of innovators and community leaders focused on the future of mobility and beyond. We were honored to speak with a group of tech entrepreneurs, investors, innovation experts, government officials, and network leaders from organizations such as Black Tech Saturdays. They told us about the real-world, solution-focused AI innovations and start-ups that are fueling the local economy and enhancing the quality of life for local communities. We are inspired and impressed. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories with us. We are looking forward to continuing to learn more about Michigan’s AI research and growing tech hubs.

🚨 Publication Alert! 🚨 I'm excited to share a new publication I co-authored as part of my work with the Partnership on AI (PAI) Global Task Force for Inclusive AI: "Practicing Inclusivity in AI: Stakeholder Engagement Policy in Action." This publication is a companion to the workshop I co-facilitated as a representative of the Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT) on November 9 at the ACM CSCW 2024 Conference in San José, Costa Rica. In this hands-on workshop, we utilized PAI's recently published "Guidelines for Participatory & Inclusive AI" developed with the support of the PAI Global Task Force for Inclusive AI. Participants gained practical expertise in ethical stakeholder engagement and gave us feedback that will be used to refine the Guidelines to ensure their applicability in real-world contexts. ▪ ACM CSCW 2024 Workshop Companion Publication: https://lnkd.in/dJ-CatJp ▪ PAI's blog post about the Guidelines: https://lnkd.in/eMviSRvN ▪Explore the PAI Guidelines for Participatory & Inclusive AI: https://lnkd.in/dyinhDfS #ai #inclusiveAi #participatoryEngagement #stakeholderEngagement #artificialIntelligence #responsibleAi
