Nā Kama Kai’s annual Keiki Surf Kontest was held last weekend in Mākaha, bringing together families and community to celebrate our youth. This event provided a platform for keiki to showcase their skills, build confidence, and deepen their appreciation for the ocean in a fun and supportive environment. As a brand committed to fostering progress and the youthful, free spirit of surfing culture, we’re excited to announce the return of Vans Pipe Masters, Dec. 8-20, 2024, on the legendary North Shore of Oahu. The platform showcases the next generation of athletes who are redefining surfing and its cultural impact.      As part of the event, we’re dedicated to supporting grassroots Hawaiian organizations - including Nā Kama Kai, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, and NORTH SHORE COMMUNITY LAND TRUST - as well as honoring the legacy of Hawaiian surfers with half of this year’s invitees comprised of residents of Hawaii and Native Hawaiians. It’s the anniversary of the world premiere of Waterman! 🎬 Three years ago, the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival opened with this powerful documentary at Bishop Museum, celebrating the life and legacy of Duke Paoa Kahanamoku. Waterman, directed by Isaac Halasima and produced by The Foundation for Global Sports Development and Sidewinder Films, reveals Duke’s profound impact as a global icon, cultural ambassador, and waterman. Mākaha’s own Duane DeSoto brought Duke to life in the film’s reenactments of iconic moments. DTL was honored to support this project through brand development, website design, graphic design, PR, and social media content.
