HDOT held a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday for the new Leeward Bikeway attended by community leaders, Hawaii Bicycle Legue, HDOT, and the project team (including B+K’s CM team). Leeward Bikeway, the former Oahu Railway & Land Company right-of-way between Philippine Sea Road in Ewa and Waipahu Depot Street, is a 3.51 mile path that connects the previously unconnected West Loch Bike Path and the existing Pearl Harbor Historic Trail. “The opening of the path also expands access for community members to the scenic, natural and historic resources of the Pearl Harbor National Wildlife Refuge” said Governor Josh Green, M.D.   #leewardbikeway #bowersandkubota #fulfillingvisionsbuildingtrust #employeeowned

Last week, the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Pu'unene Avenue Widening Project was held in Maui. B+K provided Construction Management services for the project. The event was also attended by County of Maui officials including Director of Public Works, Jordan Molina and Councilwoman, Tasha Kama. The project is part of a design-build to provide operational efficiency and to increase roadway safety for all users. The improvements include enhanced street lighting and updated traffic signalization as well as hydraulic improvements through installation of bioswales and permeable pavement. It was a beautiful, cool morning with B+K ohana and friends gathered for the Wellness Urban Walk. The trek began at the Ewa end of Ala Moana Beach Park, around Magic Island, and ended at the Kakaako Farmers Market. It was a perfect opportunity for a leisurely stroll and some “talk story” time.
