  • We are thrilled to see the Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum Maryland Archaeological Center (MAC) Lab renovation and expansion taking shape! Mueller Associates is honored to once again serve as the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineer for the JPPM MAC Lab. In the 1990s, Mueller's engineers designed MEP systems for the 30,000-square-foot conservation facility, which, at the time, was the most advanced facility in the United States for its purpose. With this new project, we're enhancing artifact preservation with upgraded HVAC systems, precise temperature, and humidity control, and improved energy efficiency. Key upgrades to this renovation and expansion include new air handling systems, chilled water infrastructure, a modernized building automation system, and critical fire protection and electrical upgrades to support the lab's growth. We are proud to continue to support the preservation of Maryland's archaeological treasures! Work is underway to renovate and expand the Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum (JPPM) Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab)! Built in 1998, MAC Lab is an archaeological research, conservation, and curation facility. Marshall Craft is helping to expand their collections storage and research capacity with a 4,700 SF addition and systems upgrades to support the continued preservation of the collection. The expansion of the barn-style collection storage wing will complement the historical and agricultural character of the rest of the JPPM campus. #dotherightthingwell #culturaldesign #marylandarchaeology #archaeologicalconservation

Today marks the groundbreaking for the new Nursing Education Building at UNC Chapel Hill. This new project will update and increase the size of Carrington Hall, which has served as the home of UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing since 1969. The new 110,000 square-foot facility will replace the original west wing of Carrington Hall, significantly expanding space for the school to increase class size and provide the latest technologies. The building will house multiple simulation and clinical learning labs, a research suite, flexible classroom spaces, and areas for student-centered collaboration. This project is a collaboration with Little Diversified Architectural Consulting. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/erj9DnGq #UNCChapelHill #NursingEducation #NursingSchool

  • #FieldFriday takes our Mechanical Project Engineer, Aaron Rubin, PE, and Electrical Project Engineer, Kenny Smith, PE to Michigan at the site of the Muskegon Museum of Art for a field report. The project, a phased and occupied renovation with a 26,000 SF addition, is transforming the museum inside and out. The renovation reorients the main entrance, connecting it with the heart of Muskegon for enhanced visibility and a fresh identity. A new lobby gallery links the addition to the original building, with a multi-level spine guiding visitors to exhibits and connecting to a new roof terrace. The expansion will also feature one of the nation's only permanent galleries dedicated to women artists, alongside new spaces for exhibits, education, and visitor amenities. We're excited to see this project come together! Bowie State University recently celebrated the opening of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center—a vibrant hub for learning, creativity, growth, and reflection—designed to inspire students to harness the power of their voice and self-expression to shape the future. Home to the university’s communication arts and humanities programs, the Center features specialized, state-of-the-art learning environments and courses for a cutting-edge 21st-century educational experience, touching every #BSU student at some point in their curriculum. Among those at the ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony were campus leaders, alumni, local officials, and the parents of Lt. Richard Collins III, a BSU Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) candidate whose life was tragically cut short in an act of violence. A tribute to Lt. Collins is located in a communal student area on the second floor, where his image is etched into felt panels, serving as a lasting symbol of unity, resilience, and remembrance.

  • Since opening its doors in the fall of 1921, The Phillips Collection—America’s First Museum of Modern Art—has been a trailblazer in showcasing groundbreaking works and inspiring countless visitors. As we celebrate this milestone, Mueller is proud to have played a role in preserving the legacy of this cultural treasure through its recent modernization. Renovations on the original 1897 building focused on extensive upgrades to improve thermal performance and safeguard the incredible collections. We provided an entirely digitized temperature and humidity control system, a new building automation system, and critical updates to the fire suppression, fire alarms, electrical power, lighting, and plumbing systems—all designed to protect the artwork while ensuring a comfortable experience for visitors. As we celebrate the rich history of the Phillips Collection, we're honored to have contributed to a project that helps protect its legacy and ensures that art continues to inspire for many more years to come!
