🌟 November is National Native American Heritage Month! 🌟 Did you know? The journey to recognizing Native American Heritage Month began over a century ago as an effort to honor the contributions of the First Americans to the foundation and growth of the United States. 💡 Key milestones in this journey: In 1915, Rev. Sherman Coolidge, an Arapahoe, issued a proclamation calling for the second Saturday in May to be observed as American Indian Day. That same year, Red Fox James, a Blackfoot Indian, rode horseback across states advocating for a day to honor Native Americans. By 1990, President George H. W. Bush signed a resolution officially designating November as National American Indian Heritage Month, a tradition continued annually since 1994. This month is an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the resilience, culture, and immense contributions of Native Americans throughout history.
