DEIB initiatives have been facing a downward trend recently. 🔴Fewer job postings: Demand for DEI roles has been declining, with a 43% drop from its peak in August 2022 through July 2024. Some companies have even eliminated their DEI roles. 🔴Fewer DEI leadership roles: In 2021, 56% of organizations had a dedicated DEI leadership role, but that number dropped to 41% in 2023. 🔴Fewer companies hiring external consultants: In 2021, 66% of companies hired external DEI consultants, but that number dropped to 47% in 2023. 🔴More negative views of DEI: According to Pew Research Center, views of DEI have become slightly more negative among U.S. workers. But as some companies scale back DEI efforts, this is a reminder of how important inclusion and belonging are as very the foundation upon which good work thrives. Employees who feel a strong sense of belonging are: ✅3x more likely to look forward to work ✅3x more likely to say their workplace is fun ✅9x as likely to believe people are treated equitably ✅5x more likely to engage and stay at the company https://lnkd.in/gsDcED3D

✔️Improve communication ✔️Boost collaboration ✔️Develop employees ✔️Build leaderships skills ✔️Reduce interpersonal conflict "Reduce the chaos," as Kroger Chief People Officer Tim Massa says in this HR Executive article. “There’s a lot of work out there, and people are being pulled and pushed in a lot of different areas. We can simplify their lives if we can reduce the chaos—that’s where AI comes in." Kroger’s HR teams are leveraging AI to automate, eliminate or standardize tasks, which is allowing HR to work more efficiently and invest in higher-order work: “to be that coach, that advisor, that contributor, that creative—to have more time to innovate.” As AI enables HR employees to reframe their focus, it is pushing more people leaders to explore the potential of cross-functional collaboration. Imagine using an #AI Coach that helps every employee better understand themselves and those they work with. You'll improve collaboration, communication in ways that actually help develop employees, reduce conflict, and improve productivity. https://lnkd.in/dfMGC_CN

A new report by Lattice shows that connection is more important than ever for managers. Among their findings, this one shines brightly: "𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬." Most managers (78%) have daily or weekly check-ins with direct reports, and of those, 97% say they feel somewhat or very connected to direct reports. Managers who are meeting or exceeding their goals also report feeling very connected to their team. In addition to connection, #employeeengagement and performance are top priorities for #HR and #managers. Organizations are recognizing that high performance can’t exist without engagement, seeing both as part of the same continuum contributing to a workplace where employees can thrive long-term. Social belonging is a fundamental human need, hardwired into our DNA. And yet, more than 40% of people say that they feel isolated at work, and the result has been lower organizational commitment and engagement. In a nutshell, companies are blowing it. Businesses in the U.S. spend 8 billion dollars each year on diversity and inclusion (D&I) trainings that miss the mark because they neglect our need to feel included and try to treat this need as the same for everyone. When in reality, the tactics and extent of how included someone needs to feel is different for all! In our latest article, we talk about the importance of #beloningatwork and 3 things + a tool you can use to make sure you're addressing inclusion and belonging in your team. https://lnkd.in/guDrVNxw #employeeretention #employeeengagement #inclusionatwork #belongingandinclusion

Gen Z and millennial worker productivity is being crushed by bosses who don’t understand them... That's what current research says! The reason? Intergenerational tensions... A survey of nearly 1,500 U.K. and U.S. office workers found that a quarter of employees self-reported low productivity in the workplace. More than a third of Gen Z employees reported low productivity, while 30% of millennials described themselves as unproductive. Employees with managers who are more than 12 years their senior—the average gap between bosses and workers—are 1.5 times as likely to report low levels of productivity, and nearly three times as likely to report being unsatisfied in their job. Millennial and Gen Z workers thought their abilities in active listening, time management, and judgment and decision-making needed to be honed to improve their productivity. A key obstacle, though, appears to be getting that point across to their older managers. The solution just might rest in #AI. Tools like Humantelligence use AI to help people better connect, understand one another, and work more collaboratively together -- all of which improve productivity.
