Industrial heat accounts for 20% of global emissions – and decarbonizing it is one of the toughest challenges we face. At Electrified Thermal Solutions, we’re tackling this head-on with our Joule Hive Thermal Battery (JHTB). Using innovative firebrick technology, the JHTB replaces fossil fuels in high-heat industrial processes, delivering temperatures up to 1,800°C while cutting emissions. Why does this matter? Industries like steel and cement are essential to modern life but are among the hardest to decarbonize. With $19M in recent funding, we’re working to change that and make clean, sustainable industrial heat a reality. Thank you, Tina Casey, for featuring our work. Industries responsible for over 20% of global emissions face decarbonization challenges due to limited alternatives to coal, natural gas, and oil. BloombergNEF’s Levelized Cost of Net-Zero Materials report highlights that while net-zero steel, aluminum, and petrochemicals will initially be more expensive, the costs will decrease significantly by 2050. In the interim, technologies like electrification are crucial to accelerate clean production. Electrified Thermal Solutions has developed an efficient, cost-effective technology that is addressing this problem. Our Joule Hive Thermal Battery converts clean electricity to a temperature of 1,800°C (3,275°F), paving the way for decarbonized heavy industry. Due to its high energy capacity, our E-Brick can store clean electricity at a lower cost, making it more competitive with existing sources of power.
