My kids are getting old enough to really understand what me and my husband Nick Whitman do for work, so it was super special for our 10 year old to travel with Nick to Divert's stunning new clean energy facility in California. We're encouraged to see New York taking steps to expand organic waste diversion with S5331, signed by Governor Hochul on December 12. 📃👏 This legislation expands the diversion requirements to new waste generators across the state to encourage more diversion participation. Celebrating a milestone in our journey to deliver a net zero energy system by 2040! Congratulations to our Gas Engineering and Operations teams for interconnecting California’s first food waste-to-renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility with Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s system in Turlock. In collaboration with Divert and the City of Turlock, this project is another step closer toward our goal of reaching 30 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of #RNG flowing within our pipelines by 2030. These projects are a win for everyone – turning waste and Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) into clean, renewable energy that supports PG&E’s and California’s #climategoals. We're back with more insight summaries at #ReutersNEXT   1) Consumer Trends and Sustainability: Decathlon is focusing on localized production, sustainability initiatives, and gender equality in leadership, while also capitalizing on trends like electric bike subscriptions and the Paris Olympics' positive impact on sales. 2) Waste Management Crisis: The United States is facing a critical waste management issue with only 17 years of landfill capacity remaining, necessitating urgent investment in sustainable waste solutions and reduction strategies. 3) Global Political Dynamics: Spain's foreign minister emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution in Syria, a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, and continued support for Ukraine against Russian aggression. 4) Financial Market Evolution: The New York Stock Exchange is proposing extended trading hours to 22 hours a day and anticipates a robust IPO market in 2025, while also focusing on responsible AI deployment and cryptocurrency regulation. 5) Energy Sector Adaptation: Chevron is developing natural gas fuel plants for data centres, maintaining its current strategy, and addressing energy poverty in developing countries, while also preparing to work with the incoming administration.
