If Australia is to maintain a competitive edge, we must understand and appreciate how important coal is to Australia and the region, says new Coal Australia CEO Stuart Bocking. Coal is vital to Australia’s future, it will ensure we remain economically prosperous through exports to our regional neighbours, and it will help us keep the lights on at home, Stuart tells The Australian. We must keep supporting our coal communities.

Random places benefitting from the Coal industry. Twisted Whisk bakery in Nanango. What I love most about visiting regional towns is seeing first hand the support for industries that are crucial for the success of communities. The nearby Meandu Mine not only supports local businesses but also provides the fuel for the Tarong power station providing cheap, reliable power to Queensland. As with everything there may be one or two detractors, but when you spend time in these communities you realise there is overwhelming support for our industry. I remember spending time in Oakey when a vocal minority of Greens who had never set foot in the town were opposing New Hope Group New Acland stage 3. Every business in town had a sign in their window supporting the mine and its approval. Speaking to the locals it was plain to see how much support the project had within the community. Regional Australia is the lifeblood of our country and our economy. Do yourself a favor and visit some of these beautiful regional areas and see the support for our industry yourself. Regional Australia is better off thanks to coal mining and the majority of coal mining and related jobs support regional communities, like Mudgee, and the local businesses in those areas. Join our coal community at https://lnkd.in/gS3TUwjM

Random places benefitting from our Coal industry. Event Cinemas North Lakes (ok, and Disney) The kids had a great time watching Moana thanks to the Coal industry. (I swear the third one enjoyed himself too!) Luckily we have reliable coal fired power stations in QLD as solar output will be very low with all the rain today! Fantastic to hear our QLD government is increasing funding to our coal fired power stations and aligning management incentives to ensure proper maintenance. Now if only our national grid was operating in line with best design practice and not driven by ideology! What random place is feeling the benefits of the Coal industry in your town this weekend?
