Ardhi Na Mbao

As the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development gears towards developing Standards for Green Buildings and Affordable Housing , Ardhi Na Mbao has been identified as an stakeholder in the country's Green Building Agenda and will be participating as a member of its upcoming Technical Working Groups as a representative of the private sector in design, build and manufacturing. We're excited to get the ball rolling in development of standards for green building and specifically green building in rammed earth and mass timber. The exercise was kicked off yesterday with a Planning and Consultative Stakeholder Workshop .

We were well represented at the Tra & Teknik which is the Nordic region's largest meeting place for industrial woodworking and social construction in wood. During the Woodlife Business Industry Tour, we had the opportunity to engage with the PhD Students at Linnaeus University who presented their research across all aspects of the timber ecosystem, ranging from structural engineering of timber connections to bio-based adhesives. We found a fellow Kenyan engineer Joan G. doing amazing research into CLT shear connectors. We are excited and honoured to join GoDown Arts Centre, Gatsby Africa and other key players in the East African timber market at the Woodlife Business Industry Tour, organized by the Swedish Institute in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden. On our first day we received a warm welcome from the Governor of Kronoberg Maria Arnholm and toured a mass timber housing project in Vaxjo designed by Joakim Kaminsky.
