Celebrating a Milestone: The KGBS Impact Report 2024 The Kenya Green Building Society is proud to unveil our first-ever Impact Report, a comprehensive reflection of the progress we’ve made in driving sustainability in Kenya’s built environment from 2022 to 2024. 💡 Key Highlights: ✅ Certification of 150+ green buildings, including Africa’s first IFC-certified government office. ✅ Training of 200+ EDGE professionals, strengthening Kenya’s technical capacity. ✅ Advocacy for transformative policies, including the Building Code, Climate Change Act at County level, and county-level Green Building Guidelines. ✅ Development of the Jenga Green Library, a digital resource for sustainable materials and services. This milestone is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and bold leadership. The Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS) is proud to participate in the Stakeholder Workshop on Development of Standards for Green Buildings and Affordable Housing on 27th November 2024, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi organized by the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, in partnership with the IFC.   This development comes at a crucial time, following Kenya’s appointment as Vice Chair of the Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate at COP29, joining Brasil and France, in leading and shaping a sustainable, resilient inclusive built environment, which the Kenya Green Building Society is proud to support.   The workshop is a testament to Kenya implementing its commitment following above, as the African champion and voice in shaping a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient built environment.   As the leading voice in mainstreaming sustainability in the built environment, and the implementation partner for the green agenda, KGBS is proud to support the Government of Kenya, and our long standing partners the IFC, and has been instrumental in:   ✅ Advancing policy and regulatory frameworks for green buildings. ✅ Cementing Kenya’s role as a leader in the built environment and climate conversations ✅ Building capacity through programs like IFC EDGE Expert training, and facilitating green building certifications. ✅ Working towards unlocking innovative financing models to unlock green investments. ✅ Championing sustainability in the affordable housing agenda ✅ Showcasing Kenya as a leader in sustainability and innovation.   This workshop is a testament to our collective efforts to build a greener, more sustainable Kenya and mainstreaming the green agenda in Kenya. We’re thrilled to announce that AAK and the Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS) signed a MoU during the #WUF12 in Cairo! This collaboration is a major step toward advancing Kenya's green agenda and promoting sustainability across the built environment. Excited to be back in Riyadh for the World's largest convening on Real Estate at Cityscape Global, alongside my member and friend Michael K., and superstar and Head of MENA at the World Green Building Council, Amira Ayoub !
