"Let’s circle back to this later." "I’ll send the details soon." "Just trust me—it’ll all work out." Vague communication might seem harmless, but it can lead to confusion, misaligned goals, and eroded trust. It can also seriously damage your image, which is critical to maintain if you hope to be successful in high stakes negotiations. Clarity isn’t just polite—it’s powerful. When you’re transparent and specific, you pave the way for better collaboration and stronger agreements. 🛑 STOP being vague 🌱 START defining the details

📉 One year later, and the fallout of the UAW strike in Michigan is undeniable: layoffs, scaled-back investments, and shuttered plants in Michigan. What went wrong? The strike secured short-term wins for workers, but at a steep cost to long-term sustainability. Automakers have been forced to cut jobs and shrink operations to offset the contracts’ inefficiencies. Today, Michigan businesses have seen a net loss in new auto jobs, while the rest of the country has grown in total auto jobs. Don't misunderstand us, handled properly, Union Negotiations can be extremely value-additive for all parties. But that didn't happen here. Negotiation is never about pushing demands—it’s about creating agreements that work for everyone, today and tomorrow. The UAW’s struggles serve as a reminder: successful negotiation strategies balance immediate needs with the bigger picture. #Negotiation #NegotiationSkills #Strategy #Consulting #Training

Negotiation isn’t about winning at all costs. It’s about striking the right balance. Early in our careers, we learn the hard way what happens when you focus too much on outcomes: you can damage relationships that matter. Conversely, when you over-prioritize relationships—you risk walking away with less than you deserve. That’s why the Dual Concern Model is such a game-changer. It’s not about choosing between goals or relationships—it’s about adjusting your strategy based on the situation. Here’s the truth: ✔️ Some deals require competition. ✔️ Others need collaboration or accommodation. ✔️ Sometimes, compromise is your best bet. The key is knowing when to shift gears. Next time you’re at the table, ask yourself: What’s most important here, and how can I tailor my approach? #Negotiation #Leadership #Strategy

That’s not a negotiation—it’s a showdown. When conversations feel like power plays, nobody wins. Hostage-style tactics might close a deal, but they leave relationships—and opportunities—in shambles. Negotiation isn’t about winning at all costs. It’s about creating value, trust, and outcomes that last. If your approach feels like a standoff, it’s time to shift the narrative. 🛑 STOP holding deals hostage 🌱 START building real trust Swipe to learn more → #Negotiation #NegotiationSkills #Strategy #Consulting #Training
