Create a positive work place. Provide flexible timings or even a day’s off for the person to feel reenergized and refreshed. Recognize and reward to keep their morales up.

It is very much culture based: 1. Asia culture, money incentive works well, a lot of times it can motivate the team. However, two important factors must be considered: a. Value is diverse between generation, Millennials may require more efforts on reaching consensus on shared value and goal. b. Money incentive doesn't work every time, open conversations, walk to talk, regular compliments and reward can be supplementary. 2. Western culture I don't have a solution... Of course, I would suggest first focusing on helping the personal needs, handling the emotion behind first, again, open conversation is a good toolkit to apply. Suggestions also include to look at personality, conscious people are more prone to get the job done.

One thing that I've found helpful over the years has been to set boundaries and Prioritize what tasks are truly important now and to park the tasks that can wait. Knowing that you are empathetic and understanding of their situation will go a LONG way. Don't be afraid to jump in and get your hands dirty and help them out in the trenches. Remove all the unnecessary roadblocks and barriers. Lead by example.
