Let's come to team building exercises later. First, are your teams from multiple locations working together? As a leader managing diverse teams across locations, you need to be the catalyst to bring them together and a glue to make them stick. I started a daily huddle 36 months back. Initially, we found it difficult even to spend 10 mins together. Best practices made the one who is presenting enjoy the limelight and helped the listeners in gaining valuable solutions. We have the extended teams also participate and gain from the leadership insights. And the team found merit, voila, it's an instant hit. Now we do Vitual Townhalls, Virtual Rewards & Recognitions. When this is a way of life, there is no need for virtual team building.

An example I've seen when your team are disengage we should ask them to do something that they choose like some dissection about a game they all involved to do, or highlight something funny to share with them they will start to be engaged again and you will break the ice 🧊.

Make a point to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and major achievements virtually. It doesn’t have to be grand – a quick, genuine acknowledgment can go a long way in making everyone feel valued.

A personal favorite is: "Two Truths and One Lie." Concept: Instead of just stating facts, team members share their "life's most awkward moments" or "wildest food combinations." The idea is to push the boundary and really get to know the person. Why it works: This can lead to unexpected and hilarious stories, leading to laughter and conversation for the next few weeks. I still remember what my colleagues and I shared and we did it years ago.

Occasionally have themed meetings where everyone can dress up or bring something related to the theme. For example, a "Favorite Movie Character" day or "Throwback Thursday" where people share old photos.or Surprise Challenges: Introduce friendly competitions or challenges, like a 30-minute brainstorming sprint, a trivia quiz, or a creative project. Offer small rewards or recognition for participation

Initially, if feasible, invite all team members for an in-person meeting. This will facilitate better acquaintance among the members and foster early progression through the stages of Tuckman's model. Subsequently, consider initiating a light-hearted atmosphere by sharing a joke or engaging in some enjoyable activity. Furthermore, actively involve all team members in discussions on various topics and seek to elicit more feedback from each individual. Lastly, recognizing that each person possesses distinct personality traits, it is essential to comprehend these characteristics to enable effective interactions with each member.

Make it Personal: Tailor activities to team interests or themes, like "show-and-tell" for personal hobbies or skill-sharing. Create Surprise Elements: Add fun twists, like random breakout rooms or mystery challenges. Surprises keep things fresh and engaging. Reward Engagement: Use small rewards or recognitions for participation, like "Team MVP" for the day. This approach encourages active participation and keeps the experience lively and engaging.

Connect with your team on regular basis on some points and understand what is the reason for demotivation. Also conduct team building and rapport session on regular basis. Lastly, do a CTA session for improvement and feedback session.

Having led many projects and very ones that feel quite personal, I'll share something very simple. I'll redo the following to foster team building and reignite enthusiasm. 1. Be less critical of not so bright discourse or ideas 2. Encourage openness and thorough feedback through polls. 3. Promote inclusiveness and a sense of belonging Encourage independence and interdependence. I know many may not understand this, but, it's simply allowing individuals to be creative at the very basic level while promoting unity and team connections before final projects reviews I hope this helps.
