Balancing a demanding career in academia and client management left me feeling overwhelmed, so I turned to technology for self-care. I started automating my schedule using a calendar app with smart reminders for breaks, ensuring I had downtime between tasks. Communication tools with ‘Do Not Disturb’ & Focus modes helped me set clear boundaries, minimizing distractions. Health apps reminded me to stay hydrated, move, and meditate, which improved my overall well-being. These small tech changes have made a huge difference in maintaining a better work-life balance.

1. Use Scheduling Tools: Automate session bookings with apps like Calendly, ensuring you have time between clients to rest and recharge. 2. Set Reminders: Use task management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) to track client progress and set personal reminders for breaks and self-care activities. 3. Implement Communication Boundaries: Set up auto-replies or filters for client messages outside of working hours, allowing you to disconnect and maintain boundaries. 4. Track Your Energy: Use apps like RescueTime to monitor your work habits and adjust when you’re spending too much time on clients at the expense of self-care. 5. Use Wellness Apps: Incorporate guided meditation, exercise, or mindfulness apps (e.g., Calm, Headspace)

Managing clients effectively can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I’ve found that the right technology makes a huge difference. I use tools like Google Calendar to organize my appointments, Trello to track tasks and notion to organize the chaos in my head, but adding HoneyBook has been a game-changer. It centralizes client communication, scheduling, and invoicing, saving me time and energy. To prioritize my self-care, I also incorporate body-awareness practices into my day. Apps like Headspace remind me to take breaks—whether it’s a quick desk yoga stretch to release tension or a body scan meditation to reset after intense sessions. These tools keep me organized and balanced, so I can show up fully for my clients.

Self care for me is really doing something I love. Often workout + the mindfulness app that I have developed used by hundreds today, helps me calm myself and find my ground amidst the rush. Managing clients effectively while prioritizing self-care can be tricky, but technology can really help streamline things. I do use apps, calendars to set the system right. To protect my energy, I set clear boundaries with automated reminders for breaks, meditation, or exercise. Technology can help keep me organized so I can stay present for my clients, while also making time for the self-care that keeps me energized. AND yes no screen time hours also works.
