Are there unspoken tensions or conflicts that might be draining energy and focus? A simple team dynamics check-in can sometimes uncover hidden barriers to motivation. Ask yourself: -If you were to ask each team member what excites them most about their work, what do you think they’d say? -How do you currently ensure your team feels heard and supported, especially during challenging times? try these and take it from there.

Simultaneously, evaluate the workload and resources available to your team. Are they overwhelmed with tasks, or do they lack the tools and support needed to excel? Recognizing achievements and celebrating small wins can also significantly improve morale and remind the team of their purpose.

Addressing motivation issues requires a tailored approach based on team culture. Two common challenges I’ve addressed are organizational changes and team dynamics: Organizational Changes: Frequent changes can create uncertainty, especially around accountability for strategies. I resolved this by collaborating with stakeholders to develop a RACI matrix, clarifying roles and restoring alignment. Team Dynamics: Friction from poor communication and lack of trust was resolved by creating cultural norms as a team. Though it required time and effort, the outcome was a stronger, more cohesive team.
