When there is no certainty that all the positions will be kept is very difficult to keep a team together. When uncertainty is prevalent, I try to keep the team focused on what we need to keep delivering to the best of our knowledge, the highest quality possible and systematically produced (operational excellence). I communicate as well that we will be focusing on the things we have control of, period! Everything else is not up to us and therefore we need to learn to brace for impact without discouraging the present moment. We only influence the here and now. Open communication and trust is PARAMOUNT! otherwise everyone will be second guessing, which kills trust.
