When a client questions my coaching skills, I focus on shared experiences and effective strategies. By demonstrating knowledge through relatable case studies, I showing how others have benefitted from a similar journey. Setting clear, achievable goals together creates a roadmap for success, highlighting my commitment to their personal growth. Active listening and empathy play a critical role in building rapport, ensuring clients feel understood and supported from the beginning. This approach not only proves my value but fosters a positive coaching relationship.

When dealing with client doubt, first acknowledge doubt is common and natural. That first session sets the tone for subsequent sessions. Take some time to prepare for a few minutes before the session. Ask the client What they want to get out of the session. Ask the client How their life will be different if they accomplish this goal. Then listen. Let the client guide the direction of the session as much as possible. Reflect back key words that you keep hearing the client say, and ask what those words represent. The most important skill for my clients is my ability to hear what is not said. I offer that observation to the client, and acknowledge I might be wrong. When I do that, most clients recognize just how deeply I AM listening.

By consistently delivering tangible results and building a strong rapport, I will gradually earn their trust and solidify my position as a valuable coach.
