Resistance may vary in its nature and depth but the strategy I love and believe that really works is ; ✅Understand as a coach that resistance is a shield, not the enemy , approach with curiosity. ✅Build trust by creating a safe, judgment-free space. ✅Listen deeply to uncover what’s unsaid beneath their defensiveness. ✅Don’t take it personally , stay calm and patient. ✅Ask open-ended questions to invite honesty. ✅Celebrate small wins; progress takes time. ✅Reframe resistance as strength guarding what matters. ✅Use empathy and flexibility , adjust methods to their needs. Trust the process; transformation happens gradually.

Often a self-compassionate and mindful review of our own techniques as the coach, allows space for the resistance and defensiveness to be released.

Defensiveness usually comes from a place of fear, uncertainty, wanting to feel safe etc. Explore the underpinning aspects like limiting beliefs, low self-esteem etc that may be creating resistance & what’s needed to transform them into effective change✨
