This video is a short summary of the high-level political discussion on firesafety that the European Fire Safety Alliance and FEU Fire Officers participated in during the European Fires Safety Week in November. On behalf of the FEU I highlighted these issues: Mandatory smoke alarms: Implement regulations requiring working smoke detectors in all dwellings across Europe to reduce fatalities in residential fires. Protection of vulnerable groups: Develop specific safety measures and resources for elderly people, children, and individuals with disabilities, incorporating fire safety aspects into EU initiatives for these groups. Fire safety in energy transition: Adapt training and resources to address new challenges posed by green energy solutions, such as electric vehicle charging stations, solar panels, and sustainable buildings. Keep sharing knowledge between fire brigades accross EU. Harmonization of fire statistics: Establish a unified approach to collecting and analyzing fire data across Europe to improve risk assessment, prevention programs, and research efforts.
