Expecting lots of deliveries? 🎁 Criminals send fake text messages in the hope you are waiting for a parcel to arrive. They want you to click on links which could download malware to your device and steal your information. Instead of clicking the link, log into your account directly to update or check your delivery. If you receive a scam text message report it by forwarding it to 7726. #TakeFive #StopChallengeProtect

Christmas can be a lonely time for many people and criminals can exploit this. They might offer friendship, romance or help with your bills – taking advantage of the emotions of the season to build trust and manipulate people. This Christmas, we’re encouraging everyone to #TakeFive if someone asks for your money or information. ✋ Stop: Take a moment to stop and think before parting with your money and information. ☝️ Challenge: Ask yourself – could it be fake? Ask someone you trust for a second opinion. It’s ok to reject, refuse or ignore any requests. 👊 Protect: Contact your bank immediately if you think you’ve been scammed and report it to Action Fraud. With over £3 million stolen every day through fraud in the first half of 2024, it is essential that everyone feels equipped to protect themselves from fraud. That’s why we’ve translated our key messaging into Urdu and Punjabi for the first time. As two of the most spoken foreign languages in the UK, it’s important to be able to spread awareness amongst those who speak English as a second language. You can find the leaflets in our toolkit on our website that are now available to download: https://lnkd.in/eNf84NNQ #TakeFive #StopChallengeProtect
This #BBCScamSafe week we're highlighting the work of Take Five to Stop Fraud and their Stop, Challenge, and Protect messaging. It can be difficult to tell whether something is a scam, and criminals are experts at creating fake scenarios to gain your trust – or get you to let your guard down. That's why the #TakeFive team have been encouraging members of the public to: 🛑 Stop: Take a moment to stop and think before parting with your money and information. 🙅 Challenge: Ask yourself – could it be fake? Ask someone you trust for a second opinion. It’s ok to reject, refuse or ignore any requests. 📞 Protect: Contact your bank immediately if you think you’ve fallen for a scam and report it to Action Fraud. The Take Five team have translated their ‘Stop, Challenge and Protect’ advice into Urdu and Punjabi, and developed flyers that are available on the website for any supporters to use.
