Driving innovation in businesses across the built environment sector
About us
IFLP is a leadership and business transformation programme for the built environment sector that provides new perspectives and growth opportunity for construction clients, consultancies, principal contractors, suppliers and specialists. It lasts 12 months and involves quarterly 2-day residential workshops. The programme provides deliberately cross-sector insights, connections and business opportunities that arise from participants being carefully selected on each series, covering each area of the industry to create unique collaboration opportunities. Participants work with innovators from within the sector, in government and way beyond the sector such as Google and ex-athletes. They learn new ways to innovate and how to apply these new tools into their own businesses and develop their leadership skills by focusing on a business challenge – driving the business forward as well as developing the individual. IFLP was developed by not-for-profit SECBE, is supported by CIOB and wholly aligned to everything Constructing Excellence stands for. Over 70 leaders from 30 companies have already been through the programme and are involved in the growing IFLP Network that drives further connections and collaborations between their organisations.

Thank you, Ceire Kenny for speaking at the IFLP workshop this week. Your insights and expertise have inspired our community and enriched the conversation.
Had a great time speaking at the last IFLP - Innovative Future Leaders Programme workshop hosted at the Henley Business School. My presentation on public speaking covered: - The science of what happens to our bodies and minds when we present and techniques to override our natural fight or flight response. - Quality storytelling approach that will last in the memory of your audience - Advice on connecting with your audience and creating clear and compelling content - Tips for how various aspects of your voice, tone, facial expressions and body language can change and impact your messaging and how to ensure you are using the correct ones for the context of your presentation. I have always had a passion around presenting my message in an engaging manner and it was great to share this passion with others. I enjoyed speaking with my fellow colleagues on the leadership course and hear about their own experiences and knowledge around public speaking. Look forward to future workshops with IFLP to come ! #IFLP #PublicSpeaking #Leadership

We’ve had an incredible couple of days with our IFLP Series 7 participants on their second workshop at Henley Business School. We loved seeing the strong bonds already created between the 16 participants from each area of construction. Participants strengthened connections and learned new tools to innovate and be exemplary leaders. Our lead facilitator Sarah Winckless MBE, the golden thread of the programme focused on ‘Leading Change’ and ‘Leader as Coach’. Sarah continues to help participants think practically on how they're going to take their new learning back into their organisations. We were joined by Ashleigh Wallace (elite wellbeing strategist with over 20 years’ experience in athlete health) who’s session is based on leading change to successfully implement innovation. Participants learned how to optimise themselves and their team’s energy, thinking and performance in order to innovate. Participants met Nicholas Suggit, Consultant on strategic thinking and capability (previously from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office) who explored how scenarios can help you innovate and think about any situation where you are planning for an uncertain future through back casting. Thank you to our participant Ceire Kenny for your creative and informative presentation to your peers on Public Speaking. Participants are split into smaller Action Learning Groups where they share learning, experiences and tools to drive change and positivity whilst addressing business challenges. 🎉 We are excited to share the passion, drive and inspiration we captured yesterday from our IFLP Series 6 participants as they reached the end of their programme and presented their learnings and outcomes at their Showcase event. It was inspiring to see how IFLP has impacted our participants and their organisations so positively. Over the year they’ve learned new ways to innovate and have applied these new tools into their own businesses – as well as developing their leadership skills by addressing their business challenges (driving their businesses forward as well as developing as individuals). The appreciation was overwhelming, and it was clear that the participants were not closing chapters, they were opening new ones. Discussions buzzed about maintaining this network and fostering ongoing collaboration, driving a culture of creativity and positively driving the industry forward - together. We are thrilled to see the evolution of our programme from series to series and how more and more companies are enrolling their leaders on more than one Series as they see the benefits IFLP brings. A massive thankyou to Sarah Winckless MBE for your generous support of each participant on their journey toward excellence and success.
