Our Seasonal Gift 2024, given on behalf of all employees to projects worldwide, focuses on youth development—particularly initiatives that address the unique pressures young people face online. While social media, online learning, and digital interaction offer valuable opportunities, they can also create stress and disrupt mental well-being. Young people benefit from learning how to balance online engagement with offline activities, develop critical thinking skills, and build resilience against challenges such as cyberbullying and social isolation. This year’s Seasonal Gift aims to empower youth not only to navigate digital challenges but also to thrive in their personal, educational, and social lives. As we look back on the year, we’re proud to say that 2024 brought significant advancements in technology aimed at protecting not just drivers and passengers, but also the most vulnerable road users – pedestrians and cyclists. This year saw the global launch of our third-generation active safety systems from Volvo Buses, setting a new standard that exceeds regulatory requirements in Europe and beyond. These innovations include comprehensive collision avoidance technologies and intelligent systems to help drivers maintain focus and control in complex situations. Volvo Trucks introduced enhanced safety features like Active Side Collision Avoidance Support and an improved emergency braking system, continuing to build on decades of progress. Our vision of zero accidents drives these innovations, ensuring we’re not only meeting but surpassing global safety expectations. And recently – top scores for the Volvo FM, Volvo FH Aero and Renault Trucks T in the prestigious safety award Trucks Euro NCAP. Safety is more than technology – it’s a responsibility. As we close the year, we’re proud to see our advancements making roads safer for everyone and reaffirming Volvo Group’s legacy of putting people first.

Next step towards autonomous transport! Volvo Autonomous Solutions and DHL Supply Chain launch autonomous operations in the US. The Volvo VNL Autonomous, powered by the Aurora Driver, will be running on key routes in Texas initially with a safety driver on board to monitor performance. The start of operations marks a critical phase in validating the full ecosystem required for autonomous transport at scale. “As part of the Volvo Group, we have access to industry-leading product development, world-class manufacturing and a mature dealer and service network. For a large-scale deployment of autonomy, in addition to the autonomous truck, there also needs to be a cohesive and seamless support network of surrounding infrastructure, which creates a comprehensive autonomous ecosystem that enables daily operations,” says Nils Chr. Jaeger, President of Volvo Autonomous Solutions.

We’re honored to receive the “Youth and Education” SDG award from the German Senate of Economy and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). This recognition reflects the impact of our training programs, which have helped more than 8,000 students in Ethiopia, Zambia, Morocco and DRC graduate as heavy-duty mechanics and commercial drivers. Six months after completing their training, over 80% of these graduates are employed. By offering specialized education, we’re helping young people build the skills they need to succeed, strengthening local communities, and meeting industry needs. We’re grateful to our partners and everyone who has supported these initiatives. #WeAreVolvoGroup
