Our Virgin Money team have walked, ran, baked, and supported events to raise awareness and money for our charity partners Mind and SAMH and we’re so proud to say we’ve raised over £267,000. Every year, one in four of us in the UK faces a mental health problem. Our support will help provide mental health information and local services, as well as campaigning so that everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both the support and respect they deserve ❤️ If you’re struggling with your mental health, Mind and SAMH are here to support you. #VirginMoney #Mind #SAMH

Last week we asked you which generation is most likely to be caught out by telephone scams. 7% of you voted for Gen Z which was correct 👏 A poll of 2,000 adults revealed adults under 27 are also likely to be caught out by online shopping scams, while Boomers are most likely to fall for phishing emails and texts. One in five Millennials have been caught out by general phishing scams – with emails, calls and texts all posing a threat. Gareth Pindred, our Head of Fraud at Virgin Money said “While the results vary between generations, the findings have shown lots of people get caught out, despite an increased amount of awareness of and education about scams. You shouldn’t feel ashamed if you’re caught out. The landscape of online fraud continues to shift and we take every step possible to help consumers feel safe and provide advice on how to stay protected”. Want to read more? Smells like Nc’nean spirit 🥃 Seven years ago, Annabel Thomas started Nc'nean Distillery to change the way the world thinks about whisky from Scotland. Her mission was to create a whisky which could exist in harmony with this planet we call home. Last year, Nc’nean secured a Virgin Money funding package with the backing of UK Export Finance to help the independent distillery grow and bring its vision for sustainable, organic Scottish whisky overseas. We caught up with Annabel to hear her story, watch below 👇 #VirginMoney #BusinessBanking #CustomerStory

We’re a curious bunch at Virgin Money so we commissioned new research to find out how different generations are impacted by fraud. There’s never been a higher number of different types of scams circulating in the modern world than now, and scams are ever evolving as fraudsters try to capitalise on current events. We’ll share our research findings next week. Stay tuned. #VirginMoney #Fraud

Holiday scams are coming so remember to always stop, think and check. Look out for tell-tale signs of deepfakes like bad lip syncing, unusual blinking, blurry edges, or bad rendering. Gareth Pindred and Andrew Castle are our Fraud and Financial Crime experts here at Virgin Money so we sat down with them to talk all things AI. AI-enabled fraud is a live threat, it enables fraudsters to impersonate known organisations or even people we know with ease, through enhanced email phishing attacks, voice spoofing or creating convincing Deepfakes. But AI can be used to our advantage. We are constantly reviewing the latest AI enabled fraud tech to enhance our detection and prevention controls. #VirginMoney #Fraud #FinanicalCrime

Today we have announced our half year results. We continue to make good progress against our strategy: Banking - but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society. As well as achieving excellent financial performance, we have delivered record value to our members through better rates and incentives, and leading levels of customer service. We have also maximised the impact we have in communities with the recent launch of Nationwide Fairer Futures, supporting those dealt an unfair hand by tackling some of the biggest issues affecting society today. Our CEO, Debbie Crosbie, said: “Nationwide delivered record first half growth in both mortgages and deposits, and record member value. Over the past 18 months, our mutual model has enabled us to provide over £3.5 billion in member value, including £729 million through the Nationwide Fairer Share Payment. Following our acquisition of Virgin Money on 1 October, we’ve recorded a gain of £2.3bn, as the value of net assets acquired is well above the price we paid. This gain provides significant headroom to cover our investment in integration, as well as in service and value. Future profits generated by Virgin Money can now be used for the benefit of customers, rather than being paid to external shareholders.” Read more: http://spr.ly/6185tncEL
