We’re proud to announce that our CEO Henrik Lundgaard Pedersen has been invited to serve as a Member of the Government’s new Industrial Strategy Advisory Council (ISAC). The ISAC will advise and shape the Government’s Industrial Strategy to harness the opportunities that will be unlocked by the energy transition. As the biggest port operator in the UK, at ABP we serve our customers in pursuit of our twin missions – keeping Britain trading and enabling the energy transition. We look forward to continuing to support the Government by bringing real world expertise to the discussions about the UK’s clean energy future. I’m honoured to have been asked to serve as a Member of the Government’s new Industrial Strategy Advisory Council (ISAC), which met for the first time today. It is a pivotal time to be involved in the ISAC, as it provides independent advice to shape the Government’s Industrial Strategy vision and deliver the early stages of its implementation. I intend to bring my real-world experience of getting infrastructure developments done with a sense of urgency – focusing on generating investments and good jobs in such sectors as Advanced Manufacturing and Clean Energy Industries. I remain very ambitious for Britain and for the positive power of business to deliver sustainable growth, opportunity and prosperity for communities. It’s at the heart of what we do via UK Major Ports Group in the UK ports industry, with a focus on supporting our customers' import and export of goods, as well as using ports to enable the energy transition. Maximising the potential of businesses like here at Associated British Ports, requires political determination in partnership with a broad range of business talent. I look forward to working with my fellow Members of the ISAC to play our role in driving forward a successful and effective Industrial Strategy.

One of the central planks is a new Industrial Strategy and earlier this month, we responded to a consultation about what shape this should take, the sectors and the places that should be singled out. 👉 Read the full piece by Victoria Fleming-Williams, Public Affairs Manager at ABP, in which she reflects on some of the highlights: https://lnkd.in/exvhxjN7 #IndustrialStrategy / British Ports Association / UK Major Ports Group / #economicgrowth / #EnergyTransition / #KeepingBritainTrading / #decarbonisation / #automotive / #transport / #netzero / Tim Morris / Max Burnett / Alice Jones / #PortsAreHow / #ReadyForTomorrow

The UK Major Ports Group is fully behind the ambition to deliver clean power across the United Kingdom - it was great to sit down with Chris Stark to discuss how the major ports in all 4 nations will play their part. The leadership shown by Chris and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and our commitment is a great example of HMG and key industries working together. It was fascinating join Associated British Ports colleagues on an exciting initiative to attract the next generation into the ports and wider maritime sector through the Sea Ranger Service scheme. I was also pleased to see further recognition of what major international billion-pound investment from DP World colleagues means for the UK - and continued close collaboration with the United Arab Emirates with the UAE ambassador Mansoor Abulhoul, Poppy Gustafsson and Maritime Minister Mike Kane. #PortsAreHow
