It is International Women's Day today, it's an opportune moment for the procurement community to reflect on the invaluable contributions of women in our field and reaffirm our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity. Especially as we are a female founded business. Procurement, like many other industries, benefits greatly from diverse perspectives, experiences, and talents. Women play a crucial role in driving innovation, efficiency, and sustainability within our organisations. From negotiating contracts to supplier relationship management, women bring unique insights and skills that enrich our profession. This International Women's Day, let's celebrate the achievements of women in procurement and acknowledge the progress we've made towards gender equality in the workplace. It's also a time to recognise that there's still work to be done. Despite significant advancements, women continue to face barriers to career advancement and equal opportunities in many sectors, including procurement. As procurement professionals, we have a responsibility to champion diversity and inclusion within our organisations and across our supply chains. By fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, feels valued and empowered to contribute, we not only enhance our business outcomes but also drive positive social change. Here are a few ways we can honour International Women's Day in the context of procurement: Promote Women's Leadership: Advocate for women's leadership development programs and mentorship opportunities within your organisation. Encourage women to pursue leadership roles in procurement and provide them with the support and resources they need to succeed. Supplier Diversity Initiatives: Embrace supplier diversity by actively seeking out women-owned businesses and minority-owned enterprises as partners and vendors. By diversifying our supplier base, we not only promote economic empowerment but also stimulate innovation and competitiveness. Educational Outreach: Engage in educational outreach initiatives aimed at encouraging young women to pursue careers in procurement and supply chain management. By promoting STEM education and highlighting the opportunities available in our field, we can inspire the next generation of female procurement leaders. Advocacy and Awareness: Use your platform to advocate for gender equality in procurement and raise awareness about the importance of diversity and inclusion. Participate in industry events, webinars, and discussions focused on women in procurement, and leverage social media to amplify your message. #iwd2024 #GenderEquality #ProcurementDiversity

5 x Reasons Procurement is the best job in the world. 1. There's never a dull moment. From sugar to software, creatine to creative agencies, widgets to warehouse management systems, water to wine....I've been involved in buying so many different items during my career. No day is ever the same and every activity is an opportunity to learn new things while meeting new people. 2. We know everyone. The work requires relationships with everyone from suppliers to sales, facilities to finance, risk teams to marketing. And what’s more, you need relationships across all levels of the business to be truly impactful. 3. We have skills that can take us anywhere. To be effective you have to use both sides of the brain. Applying a mix of analytical logic and creative thought is what's required to really succeed. Once you've nailed negotiating, influencing, communication, sourcing and selling, there really is a world of opportunity out there. 4. We make money. Saving money may remain a core component of the job, but now more than ever high performing Procurement teams help businesses generate revenue too. That's where the true value is across organisations. 5. We are a helpful bunch. I've found, particularly post Covid, there is a really strong and supportive procurement network out there. I think nothing of calling a counterpart from another organisation for advice on a topic and vice versa. I also love to help others by supporting internal teams with their Procurement needs. Tell me a job that incorporates all of the above and I'll give you another reason Procurement is the best job in the world. Challenge me in the comments! You won't find these statements in any of the generic procurement job descriptions out there. Yet these are all the reasons anyone starting out or wanting to switch careers should not look beyond procurement. ————- Feel free to Repost or share ♻️ this if you agree 👍 P.s. let me know the best thing about Procurement in the comments. 👇
