🎓 The Value of Continuing Education 🎓 I speak with seasoned procurement professionals daily, many of who them have built impressive careers based on years of experience and expertise. However, more often than not, these great candidates find themselves applying for the same vacancy. There are few differentials at times, but the most successful candidates aren’t just those who rely on what they already know; they are those who continuously seek to grow, adapt, and learn. Yesterday, I spoke with a candidate who had just gained an additional Master’s level qualification to help their profile stand out in a particularly niche area of the market. When I see a candidate who has pursued further education later in their career, it immediately sparks my interest. It’s a clear sign to hiring managers that this person isn’t just coasting on their past achievements. Instead, they are actively investing in their development, staying ahead of industry trends, and embracing opportunities to refine their skills. This speaks to a level of humility and a relentless drive for improvement, both of which are qualities that are highly valued in leadership roles. Continuing education also brings a fresh perspective, often introducing new insights and strategies that can be transformative for an organisation. It enhances a candidate's ability to collaborate effectively across functions and adds richness to their professional network, opening new opportunities. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Have you found that further education has made an impact on your career? Let’s discuss! 👇 #CareerGrowth #Procurement #LifelongLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment

Fresh graduates today face a significant challenge in the job market: the demand for experience. This paradox—needing experience to get a job, but needing a job to gain experience—leaves many talented individuals stuck in a frustrating cycle. Despite their academic achievements and enthusiasm, fresh graduates often struggle to secure employment because they lack the practical experience employers require. This situation not only hinders their professional growth but also deprives industries of fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. We plead with employers to consider offering training and entry-level positions to fresh graduates. By investing in their potential, companies can develop a skilled and loyal workforce. Providing on-the-job training and mentorship can bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, benefiting both the graduates and the employers. Let’s break the cycle. Give fresh graduates the chance to prove themselves and contribute meaningfully to the workforce. Together, we can build a stronger, more dynamic economy. NB:// I am an unemployed Mechanical Engineering graduate eager to start my career. Although I lack experience, I am ready to work hard and meet any requirements given the chance. Thank you for your consideration. Please contact me for further information. asadussunnah123@gmail.com 233592236332 233550040232

🌍 Navigating Compliance in Procurement for DOE 48C Projects 🏗️ As procurement professionals, we’re often tasked with bridging the gap between regulatory compliance and project execution. Recently, I’ve been working on ensuring compliance with DOE 48C procurement requirements, particularly for projects funded through federal passthroughs. This has been a challenging yet rewarding journey that underscores the critical role of procurement in driving clean energy advancements. Here are a few key lessons I’ve learned: 1️⃣ Understanding the Framework: Section 48C focuses on incentivizing clean energy manufacturing, emissions reduction, and critical materials processing. Procurement teams must align supplier selection, contracts, and project goals with these priorities to qualify for tax credits and funding. 2️⃣ Meticulous Compliance: Adhering to Uniform Grant Guidance (UGG) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is non-negotiable. Building a compliant procurement framework ensures that all funding and performance requirements are met without hiccups. 3️⃣ Prevailing Wage and Apprenticeships: To secure the full 30% tax credit, we must verify that contractors meet prevailing wage standards and utilize apprenticeships where required. This has emphasized the importance of robust contractor vetting and ongoing compliance monitoring. 4️⃣ Collaborative Supplier Relationships: These projects highlight the value of strong partnerships with suppliers who share the vision for clean energy and understand the intricacies of DOE regulations. 🔍 Looking Ahead: Procurement professionals have the power to drive innovation and sustainability through informed decision-making and compliance. Tackling these challenges has strengthened my ability to manage risks, optimize processes, and deliver impactful results for clean energy projects. 💬 If you’re also working on DOE-funded projects or navigating federal passthroughs, I’d love to connect and exchange insights. Let’s continue building a more sustainable future together! #Procurement #DOE48C #CleanEnergy #SupplyChain #Compliance #ProcurementStrategy

🔒Closing the Gap: Let’s Rethink Entry-Level Procurement Roles Simon’s post below highlights a critical issue we face in Procurement: attracting and retaining top talent to meet the profession’s growing demands. And there’s one gap we must urgently address—helping those with zero experience get their foot in the door. 🌟 I’m often approached by amazing graduates on LinkedIn, asking for career advice after applying to countless roles but not even landing an interview. Why? Because we’re asking for 1-3 years of experience for roles that are meant to be entry-level. If we want to build a strong pipeline of future Procurement leaders, we need to rethink how we hire and assess for junior roles. It starts with assessing for potential rather than experience. Here are a few ideas we could explore: ✅ Create graduate programmes designed for those with zero experience, focusing on raw talent, curiosity, and aptitude. 🎓 Partner with universities to develop “entry-level ready” curriculums that equip graduates with the right mindset and skills. 🤝 Mentor and engage proactively through LinkedIn or networking events to open doors for candidates eager to join the profession. 💡 Procurement has so much to offer—it’s time we make it accessible, exciting, and inclusive from day one. The question isn’t just how we attract A-star talent, but how we help them start. 🔄 What else can we do to address this gap? ⬇️ Read the original post below and share your thoughts! #Procurement #TalentDevelopment #Careers #FutureLeaders #CIPS

🎓 Fresh Out of School? Here’s How to Thrive in Procurement 🎓 Starting your career in procurement might feel overwhelming, but today’s landscape offers incredible opportunities for young professionals. Unlike in the past, labor shortages are creating a wealth of openings across industries. But I know it can still feel daunting when you’re just getting started. One thing hasn’t changed much over the years—most people, fresh out of school, are clueless about procurement, just like I was when I began my career. Back in 1995, a book called The Machine That Changed the World gave me the context I needed when I first started working at Mercedes-Benz. It helped me understand the world around me and sound credible. But just as important were the experienced colleagues who took the time to share their knowledge. The best advice I received back then? “Read the Financial Times every day.” So, what’s my advice for today’s new graduates? 1️⃣ Understand your industry: Read the publications that matter in your field, and build rapport with your stakeholders. 2️⃣ Learn from experienced colleagues: Their decades of expertise are invaluable—seek out mentors. 3️⃣ Don’t worry too much about the technicalities right away: You’ll pick up the procurement jargon along the way. With the right mindset—focused on learning, relationship-building, and curiosity—you’ll set yourself up for success. Procurement may not be the most well-known field, but the opportunities to make a real impact are endless! I’ll be diving deeper into this topic and more in my new YouTube series on careers in procurement as part of my Procurement in the Park channel. Stay tuned for more insights! I have posted a link to this video in the comments below. #ProcurementCareers #SupplyChain #CareerAdvice #ProcurementInThePark #FreshOutOfSchool #CareerOpportunities #Mentorship #IndustryKnowledge
