A 14% rise in homelessness but no surprise. I agree with Shelter on building affordable homes as part of the solution. But this is also due to years of underinvestment by government in prevention. Energy bills are still significantly higher than they were before the gas crisis. This winter, suppliers are continuing to provide help to customers with £500 million of support available. However, a longer-term solution is required. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have committed to continue working together to better use and share data to target support for customers that need help. Additionally, Minister for Energy Consumers Miatta Fahnbulleh will lead a working group to improve the affordability and accessibility of energy in the UK.
