They are aiming to create a vibrant community hub where people can meet together to celebrate, to explore, to be educated, inspired and entertained. The Carnegie in Workington celebrates its 120 year anniversary this year, like many others in the present climate the charity is struggling to move forward. Trustees have an ambitious programme of work underway to turn around the fortunes of the Carnegie and head forward with exciting plans for its development. One of their weaknesses is external communications. To support them they would like a communications expert to develop an external communications strategy to support this ambitious programme of work. Work continuing well at Pelham House Walled Garden, new oak trusses being installed. While our operatives are used to wearing a variety of PPE, Bee suits are a new one to them, with a couple of hives identified within the walls, using a thermal imaging camera, but they are managing well.

Great little project we hope Keith Dymond is happy with the work carried out.

We are delighted that the work to repair and refurbish Pelham House Walled Garden is progressing well. With a happy client, the NDA, we have over 500m of scaffolding up, a successfully fledged tawny owl, happy bees nesting in the walls and work is progressing well. Even signed off by the Considerate Constructor scheme.

Back in service. The Mallard has been given certification to operate on Windermere for a further 5 years. Services starting again from today. Following a mandatory refit the ferry has been upgraded, maintenance tasks completed and had a full overhaul. Durning this time the vessel has also been fully repainted, for the first time in 15 years, returnig it to the original paint scheme. Westmorland and Furness Council said “Thanks to the hard work of our crew and contractors, our works programme was delivered to schedule and we are back on the water, as planned, on Friday 24 May." Stobbarts would like to thank the team, Nuclear Manufacturing & Site Services (Numech) and Barry Haighs team for their work during this task. We think that the paint scheme looks fantastic too.

Hoping to refloat the Mallard tomorrow. Excellent job by our team, Nuclear Manufacturing & Site Services (Numech) and Barry Haighs team. The repainting work continued on the exterior of the hull and deckhouse which has been completed, and on the car deck, with only the lane lines left to do. Repainting of the two ramps has also been progressed and will be completed this weekend. In addition, new deck hatches have been installed to replace two that were beyond economic repair, and the replacement of the wooded fenders that protect Mallard’s hull from damage if she inadvertently comes into contact with the slipways. Inspections have also been completed on the two fuel tanks and the hull bolts with no issues being found with either. The plan for the final week of the programme is to relaunch Mallard into the lake on Monday 20 May and tow her back to the Ferry Nab slipway for final work to be completed and the machinery and systems recommissioned ready for Friday 24 May.
