  • 🙌 Happy New Year to you all! 🙌 As we settle in to 2025, we want to say a huge thank you to all our amazing colleagues and supply chain partners for their hard work last year. See a summary of our progress, highlights and challenges in Sellafield Ltd's annual report of our partnership: https://lnkd.in/efBkT_eu The fantastic picture below shows our in-construction SIXEP Continuity Plant (SCP). Once operational, the plant will ensure the site’s existing Site Ion Exchange Effluent Plant (SIXEP) facility, which has been operational since 1985, can continue its vital work for decades to come.   We can’t wait to see further progress on our major projects in 2025 🏗️ #TeamPPP

  • Big thanks to our team members for their commitment to safety this year. Not only has it ensured we have safe working environments across multiple major projects and workplaces at Sellafield Ltd, but it has also allowed us to donate £10,000 to a range of charities, chosen by our project teams. The charities include Mind West Cumbria, Starlight Children’s Foundation, The North Lakes Foodbank, Wasdale Mountain Rescue, Hospice at Home West Cumbria, BeeUnique, Smile for Miley, West Cumberland Hospital, RNLI, and Great North Air Ambulance Service. #TeamPPP #KnowinglySafe

  • Our team members have been making the most of the festive period, donning their best Christmas jumpers and supporting Cumbria’s The Freedom Project charity. In a bid to tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG), the Freedom Project has been getting involved in the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, raising awareness in collaboration with Sellafield Ltd’s Domestic Abuse Contacts Network, organising events for our teams, including bake sales and a choir performance, raising over £500 to support this amazing charity. Our Programme Assurance Lead and Freedom Project trustee, Hannah Bell, has led the initiatives to raise awareness of such an important issue. She shared: "The Freedom Project is a lifeline for so many in our community who feel isolated and vulnerable due to domestic abuse. Domestic abuse overwhelmingly impacts women as victims or survivors, but the charity’s services are also open to men who are victims or survivors of abuse. "By participating in the 16 days of Activism, we hoped to shine a light on the realities of VAWG and to inspire our community to stand united in support of survivors. “Thank you to all on PPP who contributed and got involved. Together, we can build a future where everyone feels safe and valued." To learn more, see the link in the comments 👇 #TeamPPP #EndVAWG #16DaysOfActivism #DomesticAbuseAwareness

  • ICYMI - Quick-thinking from a team member on our SRP project has led to the life of a colleague being saved.   Carl Walmsley was first to respond when Nigel Blacklock suffered a heart attack during a rugby training game at St Benedict’s Rugby Club in Whitehaven, West Cumbria.   Carl was able to use an on-site defibrillator and began CPR until paramedics arrived and took over.   We are pleased to say that after a month in hospital, Nigel is making steady progress ❤️   We're all wishing Nigel a speedy recovery! And, we should recognise the heroic efforts of Carl and others, and the importance of CPR training and defibrillator availability.   📻 Nigel was speaking on BBC Radio Cumbria this morning, click below to listen again 👇 (08:26:00)   #TeamPPP

  • Quick-thinking from a team member on our SRP project has led to the life of a colleague on our BEPPS2 project being saved – showing just how key it is to be trained in both CPR and the use of a defibrillator. When you undertake first aid training at work – you hope you don’t need to use it in real life – but that is exactly the situation that Carl ‘Wammo’ Walmsley was faced with. A routine Friday night rugby match turned into a life or death situation when Nigel Blacklock, a Senior Site Supervisor from our Box Encapsulation Plant Product Store 2 (BEPPS2) project team, collapsed during training at a local rugby club. Unbeknown to him or his teammates, Nigel was having a heart attack. The first to respond was Carl Walmsley, a Concrete Chargehand from our Sellafield Product and Residue Store Retreatment Plant (SRP) project team. He assessed the situation, realised the severity, called for the defibrillator and began performing CPR. Carl followed the defib instructions which ultimately saved Nigel's life. Nigel spent nearly a month in the hospital, and his recovery has been slow but steady. He is now ready to spend Christmas at home with wife Lyndsey. Tune in to BBC Radio Cumbria tomorrow morning around 8.20am to listen to them tell the story or read more here:  https://lnkd.in/d8PwCqGm #TeamPPP

  • As Movember wraps up, we’re thrilled to celebrate the efforts of our team members in raising awareness about male cancers and mental health. Pictured below are Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team members from across our partnership who enthusiastically participated in the 'grow a mo to help save a bro' movement. While Movember might be over, the mission it represents continues. Male cancers and mental health remain critical topics, and our colleague's contributions have helped to keep these issues at the forefront. Well done to everyone involved! #TeamPPP

  • We are delighted to be listed as one of the UK’s top inclusive employers, ranking 43rd. The annual Top 100 Inclusive UK Employers Index, published by the National Centre for Diversity, recognises organisations that have taken strong steps to embed inclusive practices into the core of their operations and who demonstrate their commitment to building inclusive cultures. In 2023, our partnership at Sellafield Ltd became the first in nuclear to be accredited as an Investor in Diversity by the National Centre for Diversity. Earlier this year, we were also recognised by the Government’s Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) who presented us with a prestigious Diversity and Inclusion Award. The recognition is testament to everyone across our teams who promote a culture where everyone feels welcome and valued. #TeamPPP
