Project Update: Our First PV Install for HUSK! We’re excited to share that our first solar PV installation HUSK is underway! The entire plot, compromising of 13 homes, is expected to generate 30 MWh of electricity per year, and is estimated to save each resident £444 on their annual electricity bills in the first year 💚👏 We will be progressing to the internals part of the job as soon as plastering is complete but we’re thrilled to start seeing it all come together! Fast forward to April 2024, and Megan is now an integral part of the design process for Green, Mechanical & Electrical installs, blending her compliance expertise with new technical skills. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Kev for 5 to ask him a few questions: 🟢 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝: After leaving school, I started my career with NG Bailey, a major commercial /industrial company, where I completed my electrical apprenticeship and spent 8 years. I then moved on to an electrical maintenance company, handling everything from installs to maintenance for nearly 15 years. It was a huge decision to leave as that had been a big part of my life, but when the opportunity with RE:GEN Green came up, I couldn’t pass it up. 🟢 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐄:𝐆𝐄𝐍 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦? I love what I do and I've always wanted to progress within my career to become a supervisor. After speaking to the RE:GEN Green team I knew it was the place for me. Starting her career as a Trainee QS in 2003, Tracey has worked across a wide range of projects - from new build housing and commercial developments to listed building refurbishments. Her diverse background also spans Land & Partnerships and Business Development, but her passion truly lies in the commercial side of business. We sat down with Tracey to ask a few questions: 💚 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐄:𝐆𝐄𝐍 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧? After deciding to return to a commercial role, I was drawn to RE:GEN Green’s exciting challenges and the opportunity as a business in its infancy where I could make my mark to really shape and build our commercial department from the ground up. The ethos and culture of the business is fantastic and I am excited about the chance to work in the sustainable building sector, which is a new sector for me to upskill and grow in. 💚 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞? Ultimately my role is to ensure the business makes a profit and that we hit our targets for the year. There's a lot of planning, pricing and forecasting that goes on in the background but when we are successful on a tender and we deliver on our promises at site, that’s without doubt the most rewarding part of the role. 💚 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠? Our team is hard at work on this SHDF project for believe housing, where we’ve already installed solar PV on 181 homes across Durham. ☀️ At any time, a dedicated team of three is on-site, completing a full installation each day – and it’s fantastic to see some of our apprentices gaining hands-on experience on this project. By next April, we’ll have upgraded 315 homes as part of this scheme, helping people in the North East benefit from significant energy efficiency improvements. This work is a reflection of our commitment to quality and comprehensive service at every step – from pre-commencement and design to compliance, installation, and final delivery.
