Did you see our video launching the ‘Green North Sea Shipping Corridor’ project? This exciting project is a landmark initiative between Port of Tyne, Zeehaven IJmuiden NV / Port of IJmuiden, DFDS, Ricardo plc, and KVSA (Felison Terminals and Data & Intelligence). Supported by £9 million from the International Green Corridors Fund, the project will create one of the world’s first green shipping corridors between the UK and the Netherlands. The aim is to decarbonise the route currently served by ageing vessels, transitioning to methanol-fuelled RoRo/RoPax ships and establishing the necessary landside infrastructure for fuelling and electrification. With a longstanding DFDS ferry route already connecting the North East and the Netherlands, this initiative strengthens our commitment to sustainability and positions both ports as leaders in green shipping.
