🎄🥧 The Great Mince Pie Championships: Year 2 at Pager Power 🥧🎄 At Pager Power, we’re always looking for fun ways to bring our team together—and what better way to embrace the holiday spirit than with our annual Mince Pie Championships! After a successful launch last year, we couldn't wait to bring it back for its second round. What started with Rosie Stammers and Jacob Cunningham has now expanded, with Phillip Charhill, Hannah Lucey GradIEMA, and Ricky Tso joining the fun. This year, we meticulously ranked 10 different mince pies from a variety of shops, evaluating them on three key criteria: presentation, flavour, and general vibes. After plenty of delicious testing, we finally have our winners! 🏆 1st Place: Iceland Foods Luxury Mince Pies 🥈 2nd Place: Waitrose & Partners All Butter Mince Pies 🥉 3rd Place: Aldi UK Deep Filled Mince Pies As an Honourable Munchin’, Hannah Lucey GradIEMA baked us some of her surprise Mince Pies, which we didn’t include in the overall count as they won by a landslide!💕 What do you think the surprise was? 🤔 A huge thank you to everyone who took part—this holiday tradition continues to grow stronger each year! The placement of wind turbines within a wind farm is crucial for maximising energy output while reducing wake effects (a reduction in wind speed due to energy being extracted by the turbine, leading to a loss in energy generation of turbines behind it) and land usage. Traditional methods to determine optimum turbine placement fail to account for the variability and complexity of wind patterns and terrain irregularities. Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) uses stochastic processes and real-world constraints to optimise turbine placements. After a day or two of planning, Pager Power Ltd has finished construction of its first wind turbine development, located in Sudbury, Suffolk. Manufactured by the LEGO Group and designed by Vestas, the turbine measures 37 inches to tip, with a rotor diameter of 29 inches. The Pager Power team assessed for aviation, radar, telecoms and shadow flicker issues, and fortunately, there were no identified impacts. What is the best thing you have built out of lego? Pager Power would like to congratulate our very own Senior Systems Analyst, Harry Watson MMath AMIMA, for reaching the Microsoft Excel World Championship Game Day (Semifinals) in Las Vegas!! The Microsoft Excel World Championship is part of the Financial Modeling World Cup and is hosted once every year. It is an incredible achievement to reach this far into the competition with only 64 out of over 600 competitors reaching this stage of the tournament. Pager Power is fortunate to have such a talented technical member of staff to support both our business growth team and the tools that are utilized by our technical analysts. At Pager Power, Harry has provided regular Excel challenge sheets to the wider team which have been enjoyed by many staff members as they get to grips with their IF’s, CONCAT’s, and AVERAGE’s. On this occasion, we decided it was very appropriate to break the rule ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’.
