This is so tragic! Details on how to help below 👇
Christmas Miracle needed ❤️ We have received the devastating news that one of our beneficiaries vans, full of gifts for 100 local children, caught fire after leaving our Mission Christmas HQ this week. All occupants are safe and well, but all of the gifts have been destroyed. These children who were about to have their Christmas wish come true are now sadly back to square one. 💔 If you can help, and are out shopping this weekend, PLEASE buy that 1 extra in B&M or donate online via the link in bio to help us find the gifts for these local children. #MissionChristmas #Cashforkids #ChristmasWish https://lnkd.in/ed9_czHH

🚨 Your Help is Needed Now More Than Ever 🚨 At #CASAJWC, our vision is clear: to create a community where every child who has experienced abuse and neglect is given the opportunity to thrive. Unfortunately, significant reductions in VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) funding—amounting to a loss of over $100,000 since 2023—are jeopardizing the stability of our programs and the well-being of the children we serve. As Julie shares, funding shortages threaten our ability to meet the growing need for advocacy and support in our community. While we’ve taken steps to offset these losses, we can’t sustain our impact without your help. Your monthly or one-time donation will help us maintain critical programs, expand support to more youth, and ensure stability during these uncertain times. Every contribution makes a difference—together, we can continue providing hope, advocacy, and life-changing support to the children who need it most. Donate today towards #CASAJWC's 2024 Annual Appeal and help us build brighter futures: https://lnkd.in/eE-9sVZg 💙

Charity—whether through money, food, clothing, or toys—is a vital practice that we should make a regular part of our lives. In Islam, even a simple smile is considered an act of charity. It’s inspiring to see people dedicate their time and effort to something spiritually enriching while supporting those in need. Here are some key takeaways about charity and its significance in Islam. Charity helps alleviate poverty, reduce inequality, and strengthen bonds within the community, fostering a sense of mutual care and responsibility. Islam emphasizes that acts of charity, big or small, are significant in the eyes of Allah, as I said above even a smile can count as charity. In fact , Zakat(charity) is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, requiring Muslims to give a fixed percentage (usually 2.5%) of their wealth annually to help the needy, support social welfare, and promote economic balance. Charity is considered a way to purify one’s wealth and soul, reduce greed, and earn Allah’s blessings and forgiveness. The Qur’an and Hadith frequently promise immense rewards for those who give generously. Ultimately, charity benefits both the giver and the receiver, serving as a powerful means to foster a more just, fair, and compassionate society.
With Christmas fast approaching, I felt inspired to give back to the community in a meaningful way. I therefore personally took the lead in organising Christmas pamper boxes for women and children in refuge at Pennine Domestic Abuse Partnership (PDAP). This involved planning, coordinating donations, and working closely with Deborah from PDAP to ensure we could make a real impact for their clients in need. Our Family Department already work very closely with PDAP who are a key provider of domestic abuse services in Kirklees so it was incredibly rewarding to hear how much this will mean to the families at the refuge. Also, many thanks to the two offices that donated, we successfully gathered enough donations to fill four boxes!

"The decision to exclude a child from school is a life-changing one" In this powerful film, Jack, one of our educational advocates at CEN, shares his experience of supporting families during some of the toughest moments of their lives. Jack has seen first hand the challenges families face when trying to challenge a school exclusion. Only 5% of exclusions are ever contested, and even fewer are successfully overturned. For many, the process feels impossible without the right support. At CEN, we provide vital advice, guidance and advocacy for families whose children are at risk of exclusion. Our work changes lives, but we're facing a real funding crisis. Without urgent support, we may not be able to continue helping the families who need us most. Please watch the film, visit our Crowdfunder page, and consider donating. If you can't donate, sharing the post or spreading the word on social media can make a huge difference. Together, we can stand by families and give every child the chance to thrive. https://lnkd.in/eNHWHRmV
