Are you looking for an interesting and rewarding part-time role that will make a real difference to Matthew Arnold School and its community? Acer Trust is looking for a Governance Assistant to help Matthew Arnold School Governing Body to fulfil its important role in the education of our pupils and students. You do not need any education experience for this role; you just need to be highly organised, able to take good minutes and be good with people. We can provide all the training and support that you need, including the opportunity to train as a qualified governance professional. This role is to support Matthew Arnold School working about 150 hours over the year. The Governing Bodies meet six times per year, usually on a Thursday evening. The meetings take place at Matthew Arnold School. You will work with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors to plan the agenda and circulate papers, attend the meetings to take minutes and support the Chair in ensuring the smooth running of the meetings, and make sure that Governor records, training and checks are up to date. Excellent governance ensures that our schools are well led and deliver an excellent education for all the children in our care. In this role, you will work closely with our Trust Governance Support Manager, who will provide advice, guidance and support both to you and the Governors, to ensure effective governance. We are looking for someone who is professional and reliable, and has excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills. You will be a proactive self-starter with the ability to manage your work within a highly flexible environment. Governing Body meetings are planned a year in advance and the successful candidate will need to be available for these evening meetings during term time, but otherwise the workload is highly flexible and can be undertaken at home or in the office, at times to suit you. Full training is provided, and the successful candidate will benefit from the opportunity to join one of the best pension schemes in the country. This role is advertised at Grade 6 (£12-14 per hour). To apply for this role, please submit a CV and a short covering note outlining your interest in the role and the skills and experience that you can offer to Jamie Wade, COO, at hr@acertrust.org.uk. In line with safer recruitment guidelines, please complete the application form on “My New Term” and the role will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. The closing date for this role is 9am on Friday 29th November and interviews will be held on Tuesday 3rd December.

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone for what you did to make open evening so fantastic. Families that I spoke to were overwhelmingly positive about the information they had from the subjects they visited, saying teachers were amazingly warm and welcoming. Our student guides did a fantastic job of giving information about their experience as well as being enthusiastic about their school experience. Finally thank you to our Business Services team for the organisation and planning that ensured the evening ran so smoothly, from the parking to the food, the cleaning to the displays it was a massive team effort Anthony Broadley Headteacher

GCSE Results 2024 Congratulations to all of our year 11 students on the fantastic achievement they have had in this year’s GCSELevel results. Students have worked exceptionally hard to gain their GCSEs. This group of students had to overcome the challenge of having only just started year 7 when lockdown struck as well as each individual student having their own set of challenges to overcome, and we are extremely proud of all of them for how they have worked and how well they have all done. We are looking forward to welcoming many students back to the 6th form at the beginning of September and wish all moving on to college or work based learning the very best for an exciting future. Whatever the destination we know our students will go on to make great contributions to their community. GCSE summary table Indicator 2024 5 or more 9-4 Including English and Maths 74% 5 or more 9-5 Including English and maths 53% 1 or more 9-1 grades 99% % Grades 9-7 28% This set of results represents excellent progress for our students.
