LARGE AMOUNTS OF GRANT MONEY STILL AVAILABLE! A large amount of grant money is waiting to be claimed by Shropshire businesses before the current funding regimes end in March 2025 Delia Yapp from the Economy, Funding and Skills team at Shropshire Council works extensively with a range of key businesses in Shropshire and wants to highlight that there is still grant money available to businesses of all sizes. The Marches Energy Efficiency Grant is designed to help businesses fund anything that will reduce their carbon footprint. Following a comprehensive and free assessment looking at a business’s energy usage, including equipment, premises, processes and performance, a report identifies the energy measures that should be taken. Delia says, “People automatically think of the obvious energy-saving measures like LED lighting, solar panels and heat pumps and, of course we have funded these types of measures, but the grant has also been used to replace windows, doors, and old, worn-out machinery that had started to impact negatively on the carbon footprint of the business. “Being energy efficient does make a real and positive difference to any business’s bottom-line but the bonus is that any improvements can be funded up to 75% by this grant. It means the business only has to contribute 25% of the full cost.” The West Midlands SME Grant is also another fund that Delia urges businesses to investigate. Grants of £10,000 plus are available with the requirement that the proposed project will create jobs. In this case the fund will cover up to 50% of any associated costs. “To date we have funded IT equipment, new machinery and a range of marketing projects that have identified new markets or developed new products and services in a business. “In every case the applications have clearly shown how the funding will help them to grow and generate jobs.” Both grants are still inviting applications, but time is running out. “We want to see Shropshire businesses benefit from this money. These initiatives will end next March, and we simply don’t know what will be available in the future. We hope local businesses will take some time to look at these funds, see if they are eligible and make an application!” Further information about both grants is available online at https://lnkd.in/eBw4spEi and https://lnkd.in/eKChPyTS Businesses based in the Shropshire LA area can also contact the Shropshire Growth Hub on growthhub@shropshire.gov.uk for further information, guidance and help with their applications. #MarchesEnergyGrant #WestMidlandsSMEGrant #BusinessFunding #ShropshireBusinesses #GrantOpportunities #EnergyEfficiencyGrants #ApplyNow #BusinessGrowth #ShropshireGrowthHub #GrantFundingAvailable Delia Yapp Matt Potts BA (Hons) MSc MIED MIPM Joy Holland Amy Farley Ruth Ross Shropshire Council Andy Begley anna sadler Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)
