  • Business hots up after sauna upgrade Business is booming at a luxury cabin business in Herefordshire after it went viral following a huge upgrade partly financed by a grant from Herefordshire Growth Hub. Bookings have soared at The Rookery Woods – a woodland retreat in Bromyard – since the installation of cutting-edge infra-red saunas in two of its cabins. Owners Heather and Dale Badman received a £5,363.40 grant from the Visitor Experience Fund – a capital grant scheme funded by the UK Rural England Prosperity Fund – which met 70 per cent of the cost of the saunas. • Herefordshire's Docklow Pools resort unveils new attraction A great story in the Hereford Times this week from Docklow Pools. We were able to support Docklow Pools and their new woodland walk attraction with match funding from the Rural Tourism Fund. The project has created a year-round draw for the business, an 1.8-mile surfaced woodland walk has been constructed, intended to be suitable for all ages and disabled-friendly, and offering visitors the chance of spotting deer, kingfishers and owls. The Rural Tourism Grant is a capital grant scheme that has been funded by the UK Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), part of UKSPF Funding. The aim is to support new and existing businesses to develop new products and facilities that will be of wider benefit to the local economy. This includes farm businesses looking to diversify outside of agriculture. • New Off Grid Cabin in Rural Herefordshire We have been out to visit some Herefordshire tourism businesses who were successful in receiving grants from the Rural Enterprise Fund to develop new products and help them grow their businesses. A new off-grid eco cabin has been built at Kerry’s Gate near Abbey Dore which is due to open in December.  The farm has used the Rural Enterprise Grant to part fund their build the new cabin, complete with solar power. This is a great example of a farm diversification project, bringing a new income source into the business with minimum impact on the surrounding countryside, whilst supporting the growing Herefordshire tourism market.  The Rural Enterprise Fund is a capital grant scheme that has been funded by the UK Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), part of UKSPF Funding. The aim is to support new and existing businesses to develop new products and facilities that will be of wider benefit to the local economy. • New kitchen inside the cabin with wooden worktops and blue cabinets. A view of trees can be seen through the window.
    • Solar panel array standing in open space in front of woodland.
  • New location and growth for Herefordshire business Some of the team have been out and about visiting recipients of grants to see what the impact has been. Leading Edge Power, a business based in south Herefordshire, specialising in the design and manufacturer of off-grid power systems has been telling the team about the impact of the UK Rural Enterprise Grant on the business. A grant from the Rural Enterprise Fund has part funded the refurbishment a building in Pontrilas to meet their growing requirements  allowed the business to refurbish their new building to fit their requirements and has helped them invest in new equipment to aid the manufacture of wind turbines, leading to new contracts. The Rural Enterprise Fund is a capital grant scheme that has been funded by the UK Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), part of UKSPF Funding.
