Ukraine: Russia’s War and the Future of the Global Order, edited by Michael Cox (LSE IDEAS and LSE Department of International Relations) and published by LSE Press explores the causes and nature of #Russia’s war in #Ukraine, triggered by the 2022 invasion, and its impacts on the global world order. According to Clémence Pellissier, the nuanced contributions in this volume work together to unpick the war’s dual role as a catalyst for #geopolitical change and a means of revealing pre-existing international dynamics. 🎉 Congratulations to Greta Filor, an MSc International Relations student, for her insightful blog post on our recent event, “The global fight against #LGBTI rights: how transnational conservative networks target sexual and #gender minorities.” On 21 November, we had the privilege of hosting Professor Phillip Ayoub, who was joined by the chair of the event, Dr Milli Lake, Associate Professor in the Department of International Relations at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). They delved into LGBTI activism and discussed Professor Ayoub’s newly released book, The Global Fight Against LGBTI Rights, co-authored with Professor Kristina Stoeckl. 📖 “Professor Ayoub’s work stresses the need for further examination into international sociopolitical movements and rejects the premise of a liberal and conservative geographic split,” Greta wrote. 📰 Read Greta’s blog: https://lnkd.in/eNsmE4if 🎧 Listen to the event podcast: https://lnkd.in/eChBx3E2 #partofLSE #LSEEvents

We are thrilled to celebrate Reese Wong, a final-year BSc IR student at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), who has been awarded The Diana Award 2024! 🏆 Established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, the Award is one of the highest accolades a young person can achieve for social action or humanitarian efforts. In 2019, Reese founded ‘ISSIA HK,’ which has since mobilized over 500 volunteers and launched more than 30 projects based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Beyond that, he has taken on leadership roles as President of LSE’s Entrepreneurs Society, Trustee of LSE’s Student Union, and Curator of the WEF Global Shapers London Hub II. Reese’s passion for community empowerment is inspiring—he has spoken at more than 100 global events. His latest project, ‘Micromeetup,’ aims to foster real-life connections and tackle loneliness among youth using AI. Join us in celebrating Reese’s remarkable achievements and the positive impact he continues to make! 🌍❤️ 🔗 Read the full article about the award and Reese’s achievements: https://lnkd.in/dq8hzHws
