I am absolutely delighted and truly honoured to be awarded the 2024 King's Centre for the Study of Intelligence (KCSI) Polly Corrigan Prize for my book, 'The Regulation of Intelligence Activities under International Law' (Edward Elgar Publishing 2023). The award honours the late Dr Polly Corrigan's work and life, and I could not be prouder to be associated with her commitment to making women working in and on intelligence more visible. Please save the date and join us in London for the award ceremony on 20 January! 📕#WatchingTheJackals (#WTJ) teaser: In the 1970s & 80s, Prague became a favourite destination for 'Cold War jackals'—hijackers, bombers & hostage-takers seeking to spotlight their causes. Individuals and groups linked to the Palestinians cause - #PLO, #PFLP, #AbuNidal or the Venezuelan-born #CarlosTheJackal, frequently visited the Czechoslovak capital. #WTJ reveals how Czechoslovakia responded to their visits and interacted with them abroad via 5 strategies: • Liaise • Watch • Infiltrate • Block • & Oust. Each approach brought unique #challenges and #dilemmas, forcing the StB—Czechoslovakia’s State Security Service—to carefully weigh risk, adapt and strategise. Thanks to everyone who responded with such enthusiasm about the idea for the Cambridge Security Initiative's advanced #International #Security and #Intelligence program -- what we are calling 'ISI-PRO' to distinguish it from our traditional 4 week summer offering. We've developed the shorter 2-week course with working professionals in mind and it is now open for applications on the CSi website. We'd love to welcome ISI program alums to return to Cambridge for a refresher or those already working in government or industry. Our initial running of this program will be in early April at Emmanuel College, Cambridge in the University of Cambridge. Please come and be part of our inaugural ISI-PRO cohort (and please share this invitation across your networks!) #executive #education #highered #analysis King's Centre for the Study of Intelligence (KCSI) Anna K., Thomas Maguire, Dr Daniela Richterova, Gala Riani.
