*Dinner Table Syndrome* It’s Christmas party season which can often be a difficult time for your deaf colleagues. Dinner Party Syndrome is a term used to describe the social challenges that deaf or hard of hearing individuals experience during group gathering such as around a dinner table. Supporting your colleagues involves creating an inclusive culture where they can participate fully in conversations, games or speeches. In recent episodes of BBC’s EastEnders, beloved character Jean Slater, was a victim of a devastating pension scam – not once but twice! 📺 Jean trusted financial advisors who promised high returns on her pension fund but discovered she had been scammed and all her retirement savings were gone. In last week’s episode, Jean was scammed again by a fake recovery company.
