At FotoPool, we thrive on capturing stories that matter, and the Celebrate in Colour Year-End Party was nothing short of magical. Hosted at KONG Glasgow, this unforgettable event brought together 126 attendees from diverse backgrounds to honor a year of remarkable achievements and the thriving creative community we are privileged to be part of. The evening was a true celebration of collaboration, organized in partnership with Black Professionals United Kingdom, Black Scottish Adventurers, Knowvate Hub, and Jambo!Radio Scotland. From the very beginning, the atmosphere was electric. Guests were welcomed with upbeat music courtesy of DJ Baron, setting the tone for a night of joy, reflection, and connection. A key highlight of the evening was the inspiring lineup of presentations by entrepreneurs and organisations, including Spyce, Econome, Jutacos, and Amala Hub. Their work demonstrated creativity and resilience, reminding us of the power of community to drive change and innovation. For FotoPool, it was especially meaningful to see Amala Hub, one of Knowvate Hub’s Aberdeen Bootcamp participants, catering the event with their signature dishes. It was a beautiful nod to heritage and a testament to the tangible impact of supporting local talent. Our photo booth became the heart of the celebration, capturing over 856 photos that attendees will treasure for years. From fun poses with creative props to candid group shots, the booth was a hub of smiles, laughter, and connections—a reflection of what the night was all about. Alongside this, the FotoPool app saw over 90 downloads and 62 attendees actively engaging, showcasing the enthusiasm of a community eager to stay connected. Attendees shared testimonials about the ease of using FotoPool’s AI to find their photos amidst the 800+ uploads. It’s this kind of user experience that keeps us inspired to innovate and improve. Yesterday wouldn’t have been complete without attending the “Celebrate in Color” party organized by Black Professionals United Kingdom. What made the night so special was when a young man approached me. Despite me covering my face with a cap and glasses, he was able to identify me in the dark. He said: “You are DeDataDude. I follow your podcast and have watched all the episodes. They’re so inspiring and motivating. Your journey from being a kitchen porter to where you are today is significant, and many need to hear such a story.” At that moment, I felt - God did it. That wasn’t all. While dancing, I received a YouTube notification with a new comment that said: “This is so relatable. Rejections can be tough, but your story shows how they can lead to bigger opportunities. Thanks for sharing.” I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been part of this boy’s story since he landed in the UK until now. God has blessed me with amazing people and an incredible team. Fellow event nerds! Does anyone have the ultimate event tech stack? Asking for a friend (okay, it’s me). I’ve been running events for a while now, and let me tell you, finding the right tools can save your sanity. Over time, I’ve built a little arsenal of apps and platforms that make life easier, but I’m sure there’s gold out there I haven’t discovered yet. So, I'd love to know: what are your go-to event tools? Here’s what’s in my toolkit right now: 🎟️ Luma: Makes creating event pages and managing RSVPs a breeze. Bonus points for integrating with Stripe, because who wants to manually chase ticket payments? And anyone that knows me well knows my very strong opinions on not using another well known platform.. 🎨 Canva: If Canva went away tomorrow, I would cry. Social posts, invites, slide, it does it all. Especially if like me you have zero artistic skills. 🗳️ Slido: Audience engagement MVP. Whether it’s live polls, Q&As, or quizzes, it keeps the energy up and the awkward silences down. 📅 Buffer: Let’s me schedule all the socials in advance so I can actually enjoy the event (or at least look like I’m not glued to my phone). 📸 FotoPool shoutout to Oladimeji Ajegbile: Guests upload their photos directly to the event album. Game-changer. No more “Can you WhatsApp me those pics from last night?” texts. 🤖 ChatGPT/Claude (obviously): For everything from brainstorming themes to drafting email invites. It's like having a seasoned pro in your pocket. 📚 Perplexity: Quick research on guests, topics, or whatever random trends I need to sound smart about. 🧙 HubSpot: CRM wizardry for tracking attendees, segmenting contacts, and making sure no one falls off the radar post-event. 📓 Fireflies.ai: Automatically records and transcribes meetings or panel discussions, perfect for follow-ups or post-event content. 🎞️ VEED.IO: Makes video editing way less intimidating. Recaps, highlight reels, speaker clips, it does it all without a steep learning curve. 🗣️ PresentPal by Estendio, shoutout Chris Hughes, Cara Bielecki: For when you’re on stage and your brain goes blank, this thing gives you prompts and keeps you looking smooth. So that’s my stack. But I know there are probably hidden gems out there I’m missing. Anything you swear by for planning, running, or wrapping up events?
